is it advisable to change automatic trans. oil ?

Generally my 2009 semi automatic runs good with no problem,  but recently when pulling away from stationary into another road it slows before pulling away at a normal speed..  A friend suggested that it may need transmission oil changed.   However I have also been told that is not a good idea !

The MMT is just a manual gear box that has had the shifter and clutch automated

not sure what you mean, it slows, the car does, or the engine slows ??, when is the last time it had a run at motorway speeds, when was it last serviced ?
