Hi Daniel

To gain access you need to remove throttle body and inlet manifold.

For Yaris 1999 to 2004

What engine ? Being a 2000 it's Japanese built

What is your location ?

First step, is to pull plugs and look at the colour and check the gap badly worn plugs will cause knock as will contaminate fuel

You have circuit malfunction data shown. This means that either the sensor is faulty or the connection is broken. You need to run checks and visual inspection first to determine what is the cause. Don’t change anything beforehand you know for sure. If the plugs are over 60k miles driven yes better change them but this won’t fix your issue. Maybe there is a broken wire harness, connector or just you need new sensor. Look YouTube videos how to check and test this sensor and take it from there.

knock sensor iirc is in the rear center of the block, with a 2 pin plug

it should be 89615-52010

you should be able to get at it with removing much

I'm a little curious as to whether whether you are chasing an actual drivability issue or fault or whether you are chasing a fault code.

As far as I can recall knock sensors are one part where absolutely exact compliance with the recommended tightening torque is needed. The sensor itself is just a piezo microphone but it really is vital that it is tightened exactly to spec for it to give reliable and correct results.
