Why?

Does the filler door not work?

All working perfectly. Seen a few reports recently of fuel doors being forced and fuel theft. Trying to keep the tea leafs at bay.

Mike, don't think it's worth it.  The loss of a few gallons of fuel will be minimal compared with the damage caused forcing the fuel panel opening.

I'm not 100% sure but AFAIK most modern cars have anti-siphoning valves in the filler so I can't see this being very common...

Yep. Maybe try feeding a hosepipe down the filler and see if it gets stopped? Will hopefully give you peace of mind.

Stealing fuel will be a rarity these days, the petty thief have other things to fry.

More likely to fill up at a pump and drive off with fake plates!

Fuel thefts were on the rise back in September 2021 when the big company petrol shortages fiasco. Thieves does not open the caps but drill the tanks. Nothing you can really do about it.

Yes unfortunately they just drill a hole, even in bulk storage tanks. A know a farmer who returned home to find his yard flooded with diesel. The pump on his storage tank was locked so the thieves had drilled a hole in the tank, presumably filled up their own containers, then left with diesel still peeing out of the hole 🤬
