Not specifically for the Corolla forum so maybe the moderator could move to the appropriate forum as the question may apply to other Toyota models. Can anyone give their real world experience of using the Parking support brake ( ICS ) I understand this is not a substitute for good Parking procedure but has it saved you from a crunched bumper front or rear ?

The reason I ask is that on the test drive on a MY21 Corolla TS the image quality of the reversing camera was very poor, so bad I asked the salesman if the camera lens needed cleaning. ( My current vehicle has an automatic cover which closes when selecting Drive to prevent Road crud covering the lens ) He replied this was Toyota Standard !

My only other disappointment with the test drive was that the vehicle did not have a dynamic reversing camera as my current vehicle shows the projected travel based upon changes to the steering, which is quite useful for a retired old duffer like me ! Unlike the static guides on the Toyota.

TIA 👍

I belive the rear camera has been improved on the 23MY versions, however I personally have no problems with the definition of the rear camera on my 19MY (even though it is far from HD) and IMHO quite adequately shows your surroundings. I do agree the camera gets covered on crud in the winter / wet weather and a moving cover would be a great idea - but I'm sure it would add quite a bit to the unit cost of the module and may well also introduce it's own reliability issues (freezing weather etc). The collision prevention system (I hesitate to call it parking suppprt brake) certainly works, however it's a bit like hitting a wall when it activates. I guess dynamic guides might be added on a future MY update as it is really only a software upgrade.

I've triggered the PCS a couple of times when parking in my garage. It certainly works with a very abrupt stop and 'B R A K E !' flashing on the dashboard.

I agree on the static lines. My previous Honda Jazz had dynamic lines and it was much better. You do get used to static lines quickly though (or I did) so it's not a huge loss.

I’ve seen on the Volvo forum for the V series cars. Some owners have added an additional washer line to above their camera. To give it a clean when the rear wash is activated.

As I have a V60 and my wife now has a Corolla. I might look it I doing it on my car and seeing if I could do similar on hers.

My 2022 HB used to collect dirt on the reversing camera, however, I changed to a 2023 TS and the camera is mounted in a slightly different position and doesn’t appear to collect much dirt at all
