ANOTHER SUNROOF FAULT.

While using the car today, my wife phoned me to tell me the roof has jammed open. This is only a few weeks after it jammed closed.
I am in hospital recovering from cancer surgery which removed part of my tongue such I have limited ability to speak. My wife needs the car to visit me daily, a journey which itself takes over an hour each way.  I am hoping Toyota Doncaster will respond appropriately and deliver a courtesy car and collect the RAV as a matter of utmost urgency. This is stress we really don’t need at the moment.

Feel for you Adrian and hope you manage to get the car fixed or a loan car. All the best….

A few years ago I had a Freelander and my wife had both her kidneys block, seriously ill. I had the car fail twice in as many weeks with a fuel pump failure. (2 fuels pumps). I sold the car immediately and bought a showroom Forrester.

The dealer are sending the AA to the house with an instruction to get the roof closed. Booked in for repair in 2 weeks (with courtesy car) when hopefully I am able to deal with it. At least we can use the car in the meantime.

Fingers crossed for you Adrian. Health and car. Weird thing is I had a lump removed from my tongue last year. Lots of stitches. Most painful part was the local anaesthetic needle going in several times in several places. Couldn't talk for about 1.5 weeks. Wife was very pleased. Fortunately it transpired to be a small rare benign tumour.

Wishing you well buddy.

So far, fingers crossed, no issues at all with the sunroof. Different story on the Peugeot PHEV previously. Constantly pouring water in over the electronics. Probably 7 attempts at fixing and a total of about 25 days in the garage on that issue alone. And still never fixed when I sent the car back for good. And that was just one of several major issues.

Just booked the car in for its 2nd annual service and the DCM update (which is apparently a new DCM update as of 4 weeks ago... I already got the last DCM update which fixed the Battery going flat issue).

Hopefully Toyota sort it for good for you Adrian and most importantly, get well soon. ❤️🤞

Fortunately the AA were able to close the roof. Apparently the guide on the drivers side has come loose such it was jamming the roof from closing. But of a mystery. Car booked in on 16th with courtesy car.

My first op was under general. Removed a lump the size of a thumb end (about an inch long) and some teeth. Also had a tumour on my arm removed at the same time. ‘BOGOF’ surgery deal!

Unfortunately I had complications after initial discharge. First readmission due to bladder infection. Discharged from that and few hours later at home had massive haemorrhage from mouth. Ambulance job back to hospital. House looked it was a film set for chain saw massacre! Literally Just as I was being discharged 2 days later, had another massive haemorrhage. Panic stations and Urgent rush into theatre and surgery under 5 local anaesthetics…… need speech therapy to recover tongue mobility for speaking and eating solid food. Don’t yet know if all the cancer has been removed……

I have underlying issue with DVT’s and Crohns for 45 years so nothing is straightforward with me! 😁 Hey ho, all this two months after my employer went bust so also dealing with unemployment! Life’s rich tapestry as they say…..

You are certainly going through it at the moment Adrian.

And it must be very difficult dealing with all of that, and stuck in hospital too, unable to deal with outside stuff directly.

So I wish you a speedy recovery,as best as is possible, sounds like you are dealing with a scary situation very well, not easy I know.

My very best to you, and I admire your fortitude and courage.🙂

Sorry to hear about your health issues, best wishes for a speedy recovery. Well done for dealer sorting a temporary fix so at least one less thing to worry about at this hectic time.

Oh hell mate. That's just blooming awful. No words can be said here to help. Other than wishing you the best of luck with everything.

  • 4 weeks later...

Sunroof failed again today for third time in 4 months, jammed shut. This is simply beyond a joke. Booked in next Tuesday - I am tempted to contact Toyota UK directly……

Hi Adrian, I hope you are recovering from your surgery. You should demand a courtesy car and ask them for a full explanation of what is going on. This is not acceptable to happen three times. Who on earth is repairing this Roy Rogers.🤬

Thanks. to be honest the dealer offered the courtesy car before I asked. I will be having polite but very firm words on Tuesday.
