Steering wheel noise

Hi, what can I check if I wanna fix this noise? Only in reverse mode while driving

Its a common problem as you can see from the thread below (click on image) Toyota say its not dangerous,  mine does it as you'll see in the thread but like others it hasn't  got any worse and it passed its MOT a couple of months ago with no mention of it.

 

If you are still worried after reading the thread take it to a garage for a second opinion, better safe than sorry.

Glad i could help, i remember how concerned i was when i got mine i thought it would get worse then cost me a fortune to get the steering shaft replaced.

Mine did it for a while but I can't say I've noticed it lately! I could also feel it.

To be honest until I read this thread I had also got used to it so rarely notice, mine onlt does it turning right when stood still on the move no noise.

Well I think the clicking noise is from this way:

not from the upper steering, as I thought 

 

so the trick is to unscrew, clean, regrease with lithium and tighten...not difficult but also not easy as it seems...the click is only in a specific way, a clearly and strong click like there is an object

If you are concerned it could be dangerous get it looked at.

Yesterday I have fixed the 'toc' noise...two bolts with a lot of grease and also on the shaft...now there is no noise

Thanks for the feedback.

Mine is still doing it but its not getting any worse and as it only does it when i am parking (lock to lock) i will ignore it.

What is actually causing the noise?? When mine did it, I could even feel it as a very very slight "notchiness" at the moment of the click.
