There seems to be a bit of confusion on the correct engine oil specification for my 2007 Toyota Auris 2.0 Litre D4D (No DPF) there are various options of the correct ACEA spec. Please could someone confirm what the correct engine oil is?

5W-30 for diesel engines without a DPF - API SL, SM, or SN.

I've been through Ravenol's, Castrol's, Motul's and Liqui Moly's oil finders on their websites, and all those indicated ACEA C2. That means, 5w30 C2 spec. Better than this, only what is written in the car's manual.

The information on oil recommendations I linked to in my earlier post was provided by Devon Aygo who works for a Toyota dealer, and the info is from Toyota.

I personally don't trust those "oil finders". They all suggest 5W30 for my car when the recommended is 0W20 from Toyota.

Looks like the correct spec for early models without the DPF is ACEA C2. Time to start shopping around.

You got https://www.opieoils.co.uk, or perhaps eBay with discount codes, they also sell there. Check your owners manual book.

Yeah... That's why the reference to the car's manual...

The ACEA C2 spec may refer to the 2.0 D4D's catalyst? Three way catalyst, maybe?
