So.....a new day a new interesting issue

I have an issue with the rain sensor if I push the plastic cover from the inside of the wind screen it wipes even if no water is there, also sometimes is not wiping at all like the sensor is not working

I found out by mistake as I was trying to hide the cable from the dashcam

anyone experience this ever ... 😞

Fixed the rain sensor issue by taking out the light cluster from the roof and take the connector out (is one connector for all the cables there) and insert is back making sure is very secure there

Now that we have cold weather a have a lot of plastics resonation from the glove compartment (is empty) I already did some isolation with some round 1 inch pads on the lid but no luck, maybe you have some ideas?

The fuel consumption is now at 65 MPG for this time of the year

Hi all,

New day.... new issues,

This one is strange, so I was listening to a DUB radio (not so great DAB radio signal to be honest) and I've turned on the defroster of the back window the radio stopped playing any sound (still worked display but no sound coming out the speakers), pressed the defroster button again started working immediately, pressed again stopped working again

Any ideas?

Must be interference but that's really poor if it is as that should have been sorted out during development!

I must admit I've never used the FM or DAB on mine at all (I find all the DJs really annoying and none of the radio stations play music that I like; I tried to set them up for traffic alerts, but to date I've not had a single traffic alert from them so either I've set it up wrong or it just doesn't work!), but if I remember I'll give it a go and see if I can duplicate the problem...

Now I'm dragging a few things I may be wrong about into an hypothesis, but bear with me.

I think the DAB aerials are powered, so there'll be an earth side.

The screen heater is high current so probably doesn't rely on the hinges for it's earth and has a physical cable running back to the body.

The route for the cable above will be near the aerial.

If the heater and aerial use the same earth connection and that is high resistance for whatever reason, then using the heater would (simplifying a bit) block the return for the aerial thus disabling it.

Other permutations may be available.

That's the trouble with DAB (digital) vs FM (analogue) where FM is a bit more forgiving with interference whereas digital will fall over. Doesn't help that DAB and DAB2 hasn't been rolled out quite as promised. DAB uses VHF (FM) frequencies and FM was to be discontinued and the frequencies reissued for DAB. This hasn't happened.

I stream radio via the iPhone and my data and rarely get dropouts on a journey whereas DAB, well forget it.

Oh, there is only one station : Boom Radio 🤣😂

It is a common issue on later Toyotas, ultra common with poorly fitted dash cams causing RFI main cause is poorly shielded coax, you can also suffer from low-level transients - it's a simple fix- - fit a 3-5mm TDK clamp-on ferrite on the DAB cable (black plug) as close to the radio as you can

Very interesting, I have a dash cam mounted, but I was sure the aerial is the shark fin on the back of the roof

Do you have by any chance any idea how to get to the back of the radio cable ? is it behind the display?

I normally listen to my bluetooth Youtube or Spotify list, but that day I listened to DAB and it was cold outside

you have to pop off the front and rear trim on the display and remove the 4 bolts

Hi all

A little update, on the 25th I have a intermediary service booked, not sure what they should change on this one, probably oil+oil filter?, all filters are marked so I can check if changed. I did complaint about 2 thing under warranty that I want them to look at:

1. Vibration from the front passenger door when listening to bass heavy music

2. For them to check the rain sensor connection as sometimes it is not working at all and if you touch the plastic cover from inside is swipes once with no water on the windscreen

Also back from the Netherlands trip, all good no oil consumption and no issues with the car, I did not use the headlamps beam cover (ever if you need it correctly) as I dipped them right down as I did not drive at night that much anyway.

I other news the MPG is back to normal due to warmer weather YEY

Let's start like the Oscars

I will like to thank my kind colleague for his beautiful gift 🙂 @jthspace, I got it installed on the car, mud flaps for all the wheels,  10 minute install and highly recommended, very subtle and they actually look good on the car, not making it look like a cheap rally car

We had a lovely chat for 5 minutes, putting faces to the name as he said 😛, lovely meeting you, I still own you a beer for this.

CHEERS!!!! 😄
