I have always run clifford alarms on any of my cars. However you do need to get them fitted professionaly so that you get a certificate of fitting which you then give to your insurance company for the savings on the premium.

Fit it yourself and you won't get any discount.

Get a Clifford. Have it installed by a registered installer and sleep at night. They may be expensive, but there's nothing better short of keeping a rottweiler in your car.

What he said! You need to bea thatcham approved fitter to claim any thatcham benefits!

Clifford area good established comapny, quality kit and widely used, the only problem with that is a widely used alarm is one that theives will know most about cracking :( (well thats my theory, I don;t know how true it is!)

In theory any cat 1 alarm is as good as another (its a pretty rigorous test they have to go through, anda very strict criteria to be met on both spec and installation) , and in terms of insurance reduction the best bet, (until cat 5 comes out).

id strongly suggest a clifford

one of the audio mags (C.A.R. i think) recently tested the alarms in all sorts of ways

one was to use a modern code grabber to try and catch the frequancy on the 'arm-disarm' process but totally failed everytime as the clifford uses two codes at once and reprogrammes itself everytime or somat like that

but top quality kit non the less!!

recommend intellistart aswell :P

The Cliffords also work with turbo timers should you need one.. and the top end ones have remote start... sooooooooo cool... not strictly legal

Clifford are the daddies. I just went for an Auto Watch alarm/immobiliser as money was tight after buying the car.

That alarm above looks really good although price obviously wouldn't include fitting.

Having the remote start function active on your alarm WILL invalidate your insurance cover, should they find out in the event your vehicle is stolen, bcos, with the remote start, in effect, the key is in the ignition all the time, so as to be able to start your car via the remote. Get me? I have had Mr. Cliff b4,unreliable, Code, which was good, and a cpl of Toads, which were very good too. I think is just totally up to the person buying one init. Best toask people who have had other make alarms, get their opinion init. But I go for the siren sound too, some of which sound soooo !Removed!!!

I woudl get a clifford one, but you need to have the extra remote start module.

The one in the link even has turbo timer functions etc built in !

technically only void when the intellistart is armed

and perfectly ok when not armed!

Personally i think car alarms are a pain in the ***** i had to spend £170 to remove my one the other day as it was affecting the car....

Still ive got a high quality imobolizer and its always parked on the driveway with two security cameras looking at the driveway
