Intermittent Beeping

My daughter’s 2008 automatic Aygo is beeping intermittently.

it is NOT the passenger seat safety belt or parking brake.

it is not any speed limiter or lane warning

There is NO visual warning light

Any suggestions as to the likely cause?

Yes, unfortunately, that's usually the automatic gearbox. It used to be a frequent topic on the citybug forums (if I am allowed to mention them here!) Other than what you've mentioned, the only other thing I know of that beeps is the low-fuel warning, but I am sure you've rulled that one out already!

Take this with a pinch of salt, as it has been years and I've never had an auto, but I think there's a process whereby you can re-calibrate the clutch actuator 'robot' motor.  Can't remember if that helps with a partially-worn clutch or if it's just necessary for a new one.

(In case you didn't already know, these are not torque-converter or CVT automatics but a so-called robotized manul gearbox, where motors/solenoids do the work of the gear shift and clutch control).
