Looking to sell my car privately but not sure how much? Need to sell in the next couple of weeks for the arrival of my new car. It is a standard Design model with Panoramic roof registered 3rd Jan 2023. It has had its first service a few weeks ago and now covered 11,000 miles. On Autotrader all 2023 models are £20500 upwards.  Reflecting a private sale I was thinking £19500. Is this realistic?  Also waiting for prices via carwow.

Try the motorway way, sold our last car there, dealers bid on your car, not some tyre kicker, if you don't like the price you don't have to sell, the money is in your bank before the car leaves your driveway, put your details in and they'll give you the minimum price that will go up.

I tried Motorway however hit a brick wall regarding proof that there is no outstanding finance.  I sent them a statement showing that this was fully settled however they would not accept this and have insisted they need a letter from the finance company.  I have requested this from Toyota but as yet not getting any response.  In the meantime I have gone through carwow so waiting to see the response. 👍

Worth trying webuyanycar too. They get a bad rep but that's often people with bangers feeling hard done by. I've had two good deals from them with <2yo cars and it can save so much hassle with private sales. Nothing to lose by checking.

This look like very good car and imo all those companies won’t pay well for it. A private sale will warrant best possible money received. A good car from a good home will always find a good buyer with money to pay.
Put it on auto trader, it’s expensive but still the most popular site for used car sales. Don’t advertise in eBay or Facebook at the same time, those sides will attract bad buyers. Only reply to questions ask from genuine people, you will notice how and what they ask for, if they ask the price do not answer.
Important to note that the car is accidents free, finances free, comes with full service and manufacturers warranty plus relax warranty, something reassuring the potential new owner. Also it’s a rare model with pano roof.
I believe the car will go quickly and you can get closer price to the dealer. Ask what dealers will pay for it , add 25% on top and deduct £1000 off so it’s stay just below dealer forecourt price without losing on value. Job done , you will sell it in no time.
Good luck 👍

@TonyHSD great advice, totally in tune with your comments. Will be interested to see the response. Will get it advertised today. Autotrader suggesting £19410 which seems fair but still much cheaper than dealers

I’ve sold cars privately and got a bit more than any offers from dealers.  However, the last car that I sold was through Webuyanycar and got a fair price for it.  If your car is immaculate with no dings or scratches you might be in a good position to get a good offer from Webuyanycar.  Whilst the best deal is usually achieved through a private sale, I really don’t like strangers or time wasters coming to my house and the the worry that they might not be bona fide purchasers.  Another good point of using car purchasing companies is they put money into your account almost immediately and they can assist with managing finance.  Judging by the photos, your car looks very desirable and I don’t think you’ll have any problems selling it.  Just to make it clear, I have no association with Webuyanycar or any similar companies.

A lot of people won't pay £17k in private sales, they look to a garage for any come back, Toyota rates are quite good(or were) I bought a Lexus 2mths ago, from a Lexus dealer, cost a small fortune to me but came with a years warranty, but one was for sale privately, same year, mileage etc and seller was asking as much as a Lexus dealer, plus his needed an MOT and a major service, needless to say which way I went. As to the motorway way, I paid the finance off and requested confirmation via a phone call, which they gave via an email and a letter.

It’s up on Autotrader but as you say I think the majority of people want to buy through a dealer at that sort of money. Also like me they’re probably wondering why someone is selling a car that is only 7 months old.  Also waiting to see what Carwow come back with. Failing that will just part exchange.

Garages offer garbage service these days as is obvious from other posts here. You can point this along with your genuine reason for sale and the fact that it doesn’t matter where the car come from as long as is in good shape , no finance on, full history, no accidents Toyota cars comes with back up from Toyota uk. So the new owner has nothing to worry about.
Toyota relax warranty really changes everything about buying and selling used Toyota cars in uk. The dealers or private sellers doesn’t not need to offer anything except honest and pure sale. 👍

Try Manheim (via the "instant offer" on Autotrader). I have had great resuts from them and achieved prices that I was very happy with.
