Hi,

Oil change is basic on all Toyota cars. Some engines with oil filter cartridges has a hole in the plastic cover that you need to insert this tube to Darin some oil and then remove the filter. You need to check your particular model, i have work on like this and I can’t say for sure. As long as you have the special socket for removing the filter you will be alright. Something these can be very tight, best to have a long breaker bar handy. When placing back do not over tight too, it’s only 25Nm, this is when it’s stop rotating  means it’s good. You can always check some videos on YouTube before you work just to get familiar with the things around.
Good luck

Oil tube thing is for pushing against valve to drain off more oil you see it after removing the oil filter nut with a 64.5mm 14F-6S oil filter socket.

As Tony says 25Nm +or- 5Nm

I generally don't bother with this, as it's to drain the cartridge before removing. I just remove the catridge and let the oil escape as a normal filter. You can buy a large socket to fit the cartridge, it's worth it.

You need a special tool to remove the oil filter housing, but first you need to jam this tube up the housing to drain the residual oil (I've found it never works for me). I always put lots of newspaper down to absorb the spillage.

Where do you get newspaper from nowadays?

If you mean this? After removing the nut on the bottom of the filter housing, firmly push the green end into the hole until it clicks into place and catch the oil. No oil will come out when you remove the nut, it won't flow until you start pushing the plastic in, so be ready.  Drain the whole filter before you remove it and it will make the job a lot less messy.

You don't ned a special tool to remove the filter housing, it is possible to remove it with a large pair of grips, but obviously the tool does make it easier.

If you look at my previous post, the special tool you mention is a large socket. I drain the sump into an old washing up bowl, then remove the filter into the bowl without bothering with the plastic tool. Many years ago I invested in a large cotten dust sheet, it's washable.

Thanks stavino that's exactly the plastic tube.

Got all done today. Thanks everyone for your input. This diagram might help someone else.

Anyone know why my posting seems so long in length?
