The motor on my drivers side mirror is quite noisy when they fold so I wondered whether a bit or lubrication might be in order.  How do I remove the coloured mirror cover to do so?

Hi,

no need to remove anything, just use wd-40 silicone spray and spray from outside when the mirror is folded in, open and close few times.
Usually noise comes from plastic parts moving together and the gap been filled up with dust and debris. Often car washes prevent this from happening especially if you use a good quality Snow Foam. Just spray the plastics nicely and wipe any excess , job done. Let us know if any good.

I found the easiest way to get the mirror cover off was on my gatepost... thankfully it went back together with only minor scratches. 😬😬

I gave it a whirl at the weekend an it seems marginally better.  I didn't manage to get out with the snowfoam and give it a proper wash beforehand but will do when I can.

I asked main dealer to check mine at the first service, they said it was normal, nothin’ wrong. A quick blast of silicone where is swings from and been quiet ever since😀
