'ideally' you should use a torque wrench, but if your at a loss then just make sure its locked up tight

to put it in terms 39Nm would be roughly a 'good yank' on the spanner!

dont get a 5ft bar out and swing on it!

if its too tight youll never get it undone and you rish stripping the threads

moxy i assume you have the engine with the airbox mounted on the top of the engine?

Yeah I do. Stupid place to put it really but there ya go.

Just want to know if it will do the airbox any damage or if its ok just banging away cause once I go over 10mph the banging stops.

Cheers. There was a fair bit of 'yanking' going on, so I'll leave it as it is!

Alan, this is probably an incredibly stupid question, that you've thought of already, but I couldn't quite tell from the pictures if you can revolve the strut brace so that it's pointing either forwards, or more likely backwards. Mine's 'pointing' backwards so it's out of the way a bit more.

Yeah, good point Kenno. I have tried that but no, unfortunately that doesn't make any difference. I think that different brackets will be the best solution

Moxy: best thing to doo is save up for a greddy induction kit for your car then the brace will be out of the way, buut i have the same airbox an dont get this problem you might want to check your engine mounts there may be a problem there,

and rob i heard you the first time!

Hi,

Maybe a bit of useless info, could be handy for someone doing a search on the subject though.

When installing an adjustable strut tower bar, don't put any load on it, like don't adjust it so as to not pull the towers inward or push them outward, unless you're adjusting it as part of finetuning your suspension setup. When installing it, the brackets should go nicely over the studs, then do up the nuts.

Cheers, Yves.

sorry had some kind of triple post demon then  sorted now

agreeing with yves, dont try and put no stress on the towers

the cars at its perfect geometrical position when at rest and this what you want to capture for when your cornering hard!
