HUD misalignment

IMG_1425.thumb.jpeg.28372484b8cc019749ffa6edc5acab1a.jpeg2023 2.0 TS Excel, I’ve noticed when the HUD displays navigation directions the D or P is truncated slightly at the left side with the missing sliver showing on the extreme right. This happens with the Toyota nav and Apple Maps. Adjusting the HUD control has no effect, anyone else noticed this?

You must be in Grimsby, I recognise the road name.

In my 2021 GR you can adjust the position of the HUD, maybe yours has this too? Unless the HUD is different in the newer models.

I’ve had the HUD in 3 cars since 2020, all the same unit and this is the first with this issue, my dealer is going to inspect it but thinks it’ll need a new unit, a very rare fault

Just got mine and the D gets shaved the same way with the Toyota nav.

Not sounding so rare now I guess.

When Apple Maps is in use , the D is cut in mine too

The shaving also happens when using the Toyota nav so not just Apple Maps. maybe it’s a software fix then hopefully otherwise it’ll be a new projector for all of us. Oddly, the same projector was on my 2022 and 2020 corollas and it didn’t happen with those cars

Slightly off-topic, but you obviously have some experience with the 2023 HUD;

Do you know how to get it to display the hybrid system indicator/tachometer? According to the handbook (pages 122 & 125) it can do this in 'full' mode, but I haven't found out how to make it appear yet.

I’ve not found that yet, tried all the modes, in fact, it doesn’t display some things the 2022 hud did like music tracks and phone call info.

Once I got my AAWireless connected I discovered that directions from AA can be shown in the meter display, so I think the Toyota nav may have had its last use.

I've also switched the HUD to the single line 'Standard' view as I don't see any point in the huge diagram of the cruise control which you get in 'Full' mode.

It’s not possible to have wireless AA, you need a cable, only AppleCarplay is wireless.
Agree standard setting in the HUD is the best, full is misleading as it gives nothing extra and the big cruise image is distracting and gives nothing useful.
Apple Maps work better than Toyota nav in the HUD, did you get Google maps to display in the HUD or are you using Waze?

Maybe Simon is using an adapter to achieve this?

David is right.

AAWireless is the name of an adapter which creates a wireless connection to the phone, although the unit itself has to be plugged in to the USB port in the car.

https://www.aawireless.io/

I haven't tried Waze yet (I prefer Google maps visually), but I'll give it a shot to find out.

I was unable to get Google maps to display in the HUD in the 2022 model I owned last year so if it now works that’s great.

Toyota now have this as a fault under investigation, dealer says it’s the same in all Corollas with a 23 hud

I don't suppose that they'll also investigate the HUD not displaying the Hybrid system indicator/Tachometer as described in the handbook...?

I didn’t ask about that but potentially that is a feature the developers can add via software

IIRC the options for what the HUD displays are in the dashboard Settings menus somewhere; On mine I can switch the tacho display to show the power meter or nothing instead, but I normally leave it on tacho since the main dash already shows a power meter.

MY23 shows a lot less info than MY22 however there is always a chance that will change in a software update.
