Hi , have noticed an annoyance when someone phoned me whilst in the car. The volume for speed is really low ( the person can hear me clear tho ), have adjusted to max in settings but it’s still really low ?

any advice ?

thanks , mark.

pic of head unit, excuse wife’s steering wheel cover lol.

The bluetooth reception on mine is terrible. Distant end can hear me clearly, but I just get a load of garbled nonsense. I usually pull over and call them back. It was fine when I first got the car.

Might sound daft but turn up the volume on your handset, most people think the head unit is where the volume is changed, but turning the volume up on your phone handset will also raise the volume in the car

You could try and turn down the outgoing volume slightly. Im sure I read somewhere when I had my mk3 that if the incoming and outgoing volumes were both set to max it could cause feedback and make the sound worse.

Had no problem with this in my MK3. If problem doesn't get better, get a handsfree bluetooth device to clip on the sun visor. Otherwise you'll get upset with it all the time when making/receiving a call.

As per the other thread, you can tune the bluetooth via the hidden menu with the codes in the pdf

I did post something similar ages ago but it has got buried, the Mk4 uses the same setting in the hidden menu

see Dazaster's post on page 10

That’s a possibility I guess. Failing that just get the caller to shout !

I’ve looked at the hidden menus but i guess mine hasn’t been updated enough as I can’t get the option mentioned on that thread, hey ho !

Pm me your version No. it should start XE38 or XE39

You can also change the setting in the hidden menu in the hidden menu, iirc it's under EC/NC ADJ

  • 2 weeks later...

So…..

was in the car yesterday and spoke to someone and it was the usual low volume frustration. Then had another call come in about 10 minutes later and i thought i will pointlessly try putting the iPhone volume, and it was at half volume?! Putting up full made the caller sound like they were sitting in the passenger seat lol.

so all seems fixed , but i am 99% sure I had checked the phones volume was at maximum before (it’s obviously the first thing you check ) ?
