Can anyone tell me how this system works? I have a 2021 registered car.

I'm assuming it uses nav data and an actual camera.

Mine seems all over the place currently. There is a local road that is sign posted 40, so I get 40 on the dash, then literally within feet of passing a sign it's 50. Then at the next sign post 40.

I'm also getting random sections of road local to me where it says 10. They're not 10, they've never been 10.

We were also on holiday last week, I joined a motorway and the car decided I was in a 40 limit for about 5 miles. I'm not sure why.

Is there anything I can do?

Mr B. short answer. NO.

Lots of chatter here.  Sometimes the camera will pick up a side street sign.  Other times the limit sign shown on a lorry.

Another, for instance, entering our recycle centre or a car park it picks up the 5 sign.  There is no corresponding 20 or 30 when leaving.

When speed sign recognition is automatically linked to car speed limiters there could be chaos.

I might have  a moan when it goes in for service in November. They might fiddle with it.

I have submitted a Fixmystreet report that my recycle centre does not display a 30 sign on exit.  It is operated by the county council who are also responsible for signage.

It will also apply to all our commercial car parks.

Hopefully it will put the cat in the hen house.

As far as the roadsign recognition system goes, you would be better off with divining rods

Collected my car today and the road sign assist (RSA) is rubbish. It keeps on displaying non-existent 25mph speed limits.

I can only guess that the camera recognition is very badly coded, this happened in multiple locations and I couldn't spot those numbers anywhere.

If this persists I'll have to turn it off.

The speed limit sign is pretty arbitrary I find, it shows 30 on 40mph roads & vise versa. I pass an on slip to a motorway & it shows the motorway sign as the speed limit icon while I'm on the A4, it turns to 40 when I pass the next speed sign. It also shows different speed limits on the same road in opposite directions on one road.

It's pretty hopeless really. The one thing I don't like about the Corolla is the infotainment, hopefully the voice control will have a lot more commands in future. I'd like to be able to turn things off or pause by voice, & it takes about 5 mins before I can select music as "no device is selected" after start up, despite it already playing the previously selected music. I could go on ☹️

On my 22MY Corolla (72 plate) the RSA comes back every power on. I got bored going into the menus and turning it off for every drive.  At least on this version I can turn off the beeping when it thinks I'm speeding. Various articles online imply this will change in 5 years. No point being told I'm speeding going faster than 30 mph on a motorway 😁
