Just browsing something I downloaded when comparing the different Corolla models, back in 2020.

It says ... Electrically adjustable, retracting, heated door mirrors with reverse tilt function.

This is on all models except the Icon and Icon Tech.

Not noticed this feature on mine?

Agreed if you are referring to the reverse tilt function. Got the other stuff though.

A real shame, its a real PITA reversing on my drive without it.

Can't recall the items exactly but having followed this forum for 6 months or so, uk cars seem to miss out on quite a few things like this compared to European models. What's the reason? Is it because we are RHD?

I’ve had that feature on cars going back to the early 1990s. UK spec cars from Europe have always had higher specs than the rest of Europe, why Toyota is the other way round I don’t know.

When I picked up my 2019 car I was surprised how many features were missing from the brochure spec list. The most annoying we’re blind spot monitoring, auto phone charging etc. Also standard items I’d had on cars for years were missing on the top spec model such as auto locking when driving, auto lights when using wipers, cornering lights, massaging seats. Also, I was surprised at the lack of storage space, there seems to be no thought gone into storage at all.

I came from a Citroen Picasso that was top spec but still a lot cheaper than the Corolla that had all the above plus 360deg cameras, far superior sat nav and reverse camera.

When I picked up my Corolla I felt I’d gone back 6+ years in some ways. That said, although I couldn’t knock Citroen for quality and reliability, it wasn’t as good as the Corolla, only had a 3 year warranty and the dealership experience was nothing like Toyota.

I came to my 2019 Excel from a Honda Civic and really miss the BSM, auto lights with wipers, and cross traffic rear camera that I wrongly assumed would be standard.

Agree entirely with the last two posts, especially that auto lights don't come with rain sensing wipers. Such an obvious safety feature and surely not difficult to do. Almost wonder whether it could be implemented retrospectively.

I also discovered the other day, that my Excel doesn't come with a low washer fluid warning light, which seems a bit odd these days.

I came from a GT86, I'm just happy I can park near kerbs and open the doors 😂

I've not had a car with that since my last Nissan Sunny bought last century.

I do wonder what cars people had that have all these fancy things; I've never owned a car that had washer level warnings or oil level warnings, or auto-dipping mirrors in reverse!

Do you not have the “washer fluid low” message pop up?

I understand if you are a savant car owner and those fancy options might sound gimmicky but they hey do make a lot of sense for the average modern owner

auto-dipping mirrors... kerbed alloys was almost non existent 25 years ago when a R reg Avensis had 14 inch alloys and high profile tyres but auto-dipping mirrors can save you from kerbing your modern expensive 20 inch diamond cut bZ4X wheels on rubber band tyres..

Washer level warnings helps alert the driver to change the fluid asap to prevent the washer motor breaking as operating it dry burns out the motor and costs £500+ for a replacement and fitting at the dealer.

Haha, funny enough, I am the same. Actually my current old top spec Auris is probably the most luxurious car I ever had in my private ownership, excluding trade and company cars, maybe that’s why I don’t want to leave it. 😂👍

My Yaris Cross does not have low washer level warning - as I found out yesterday! It also does not have lights coming on when the wipers are switched on. I came to Toyota after owning Opel Astras for a good number of years and, for as long as I can remember, the washer fluid warning and auto lights with the wipers were standard. (But I prefer the Yarix Cross 😁).
