Cruise control or Speed limiter not working.

As above, yesterday driving home using CC, no issues, stopped at Tescos, then when on the home stretch, the CC refused to "set", tried a couple of times, no dice, also then tried the SL, several,attempts, not working either.

So indicated, pulled in and stopped, switched off, paused, and restarted, both CC and SL then worked perfectly.

Hmmmm? 

Thoughts?

Software glitch.
When you start do you wait until the car is completely ready or do you press the button, select drive and go. It could be that all systems had not yet initialised.

Marcus. It just maybe speed related if you traveling to slow and try to engage it.

SB, A fair suggestion, that I cannot answer, though with 20,000 miles on, over 2+ years, I would hope I have learned the Toyota HEV  start-up procrastinaction, and I DO find the slow start-up process rather  frustrating when setting off at 05:30 am. 4 days a week. But I have tried to develop a routine that works around this rather lethargic HEV start-up process.

But this was the first time this has happened ever.

Derek, I was travelling at about 45-50, so, no, not too slow.

Could you have accidentally knocked the gear selector into S (Select) Mode?  That would prevent CC although I would have expected Limiter to still work.

Further to my previous post, I've just been out in the car and Speed Limiter does still work in S Mode so it wasn't that causing Marcus' issue.

However, Trail mode did knock both out so maybe that button had been nudged and the IT Expert treatment of turning it off and on again cancelled that mode and they started working again?
