Weird phenomena with the Yaris cross

As I was a passenger in our cross today, I noticed something weird, if you look at the passenger bonnet bulge, it appears as though the car is crabbing, not noticed whilst driving ,obviously too busy concentrating on the road ahead, it’s probably just me, unless…?? ( queue music from the x files) ..

Takes me back to Mini days.  Some of them need wipers on the side windows.  I wonder why we’ve got no car industry these days 🙄

Crabbing?  Excuse my ignorance but I’ve never heard of this term before.  I used to go searching for crabs at the seaside as a young boy but never experienced this description in the motoring world. 😀

I only know Crabbing to mean when a car is moving sideways, e.g. when a strong cross-wind is blowing, or if the wheel alignment is really really FUBAR.

Extreme but very clear examples is when aircraft are landing in strong winds and are pointing 45 degrees to the side of the runway to try and keep a straight course to it!

I remember an old MK2 Escort estate that used to pound the local area back in the 80's and I reckon the front wheels were at least 6 inch or more to one side. If you were directly behind this thing you could see all of one side as it crabbed its way down the road. Scary.

In fact, just like this, just as bad.

I see sometimes these even on recent cars., especially those who had visited copart. Many badly repaired written off cars come back to the roads in similar conditions. More often  seen on airplanes near airports on their final approach before touching down to reduce speed. 👌😂
