Hi all,

I bought I new Yaris design i'm just wondering if I could in any way add the module of sat NAV at some point of the life of this car just because I don't like to connect my phone to usb.

I know that in this forum we got a lot of geek and probably they know what's the part that I need to "improve" my infotainment.

Little addition if in any way possible to put the new smart connect there?

Thank you all for your help this forum is amazing

Yes you can, its an add-in module new they are not cheap you can get a used one but the cables and bracket will set you back over £100 unless you can get them out of a car yourself

smart connect is very new still i have seen them for £400 plus

You can get wireless AA/AC modules if the cable gets in your way (you can use AA/AC with offline maps too)

Do you know the parts number of the add-on and the smart connect? Also is it fittable in this car the smart connect 9"?

It is not helpful this search in Google. Because there are a lot of sat NAV not compatible with MK4 but it is for MK3 that's why I would like to know the exactly part number, and also I would like to know if I could put the smart connect without any issue

There are no smart connects about - well, not RHD ones

Harman JBL -  86140-YP061 or 68140-K0272 they are still very new systems, and only in the higher spec cars what usually don't get broken as they are worth a mint repaired. You will also need the front and rear trims

Forgive me for enquiring but why would you not want to wire up your phone? You get much better Satnav this way, it works with the buttons on the infotainment system much like the integrated Satnav would and is always updated.

I don't like a cable everywhere in the car I need to find out a very short cable, or I prefer everything integrated with the infotainment without any phone and cable. But yes in this moment I will use it I will see in the future if I could do some mod. Thank you

I use a small 200mm cable, hardly noticeable that I leave permanently plugged in. Takes two seconds to plug in phone which sits neatly in the tray in front of the gearshift. Much easier than messing about trying to source and wire in a built in system. As others have mentioned Apple or android work directly through the screen and that way you also have direct access to music through Amazon, Spotify or whatever. I come from a world where every previous car I have owned dating back last 25 years has had built in satnav, however I now find Apple carplay is much better. 👍

I have a wireless CarPlay dongle tucked into the centre cubbyhole, invisible and phone can stay in your pocket or elsewhere. You can get android auto ones as well £25 up AliExpress.
