Alarm Glass Sensor

Hi everyone, I have a 2013 Auris Hybrid Touring Sport and recently the alarm has been going off at random, usually in the middle of the night. The Techstream log says it’s the glass sensor that has triggered all of the recent alarms. Where is said sensor fitted and can it be tested? Or would a new one be required? Thanks in advance for any help on this 👍

Hi,

the sensors are located on the roof lining in some models can be integrated into the light assembly, in others as a separate fittings near corners a or b pillars. These rarely goes wrong in practice. Most likely an insect been locked inside the car or you are getting a low 12v Battery. These two are common reasons for these events. If me I will connect the car 12v Battery to a smart charger and get it fully charged slowly, check interior for insects.
Good luck

Thanks Tony, I already tried changing the Battery overnight on a smart charger. It still went off whilst being charged and when fully charged after removing the charger. I will have a closer look for insects inside, would these still give the glass sensor as the activating mode though? Cheers for the advice 👍

Hi,

I don’t know exact answer. You can perhaps try to disable this function prior to locking and leaving the car overnight and see if the alarm goes off again. If yes, next time you can lock the car with the emergency physical key built in the remote control., doing so will not activate the alarm and you can have a quiet time. How the sensors can be tested I don’t know, perhaps someone else can help or if you Google it something may comes up as helpful info.

Hi Tony, thanks again for taking the time to reply. I used the button inside the car the other night and every night since, and it seems to do the trick regarding stopping false alarms. I didn’t know whether this also disabled the glass sensor, as well as the interior sensors? Presumably it does. Google doesn’t seem to show much up about this problem on the mk2 but I shall keep trying. Thanks again
