I have a 2001 toyota yaris the passenger side door only occasionally locks all all other doors lock

1. If i use the key fob or the interior central locking button all the other doors lock the passenger side door locks and opens immediately

2.if i use the manual lock button it will not go up or down.

Any ideas before i strip down the door interior

Hi there Christos,

Sounds like you've got something gummed up inside the door lock mechanism itself possibley. Before going down the root of taking the lock out of the door I'd try giving the actual mechanism on the locking face of the door a spray with a penetrant (not where the key goes). WD40 may help free things up but isn't the best product for locks. GT85 was recommended to me sometime ago by a locksmith for this job, sure it has PTFE which will lubricate for longer.

Would try inserting the tube upwards into the mechanism and then work the lock repeatedly locking and unlocking to free up any gummed up internal parts. If you think about it the passenger door gets at lot less use than the drivers and the internal grease starts to harden over time and gums up the internals. Worth a try I would say.
