Estate vs Sports Tourer

I have the Corolla Estate 2000, I cannot see the difference between the Sports Tourer,  can anyone please enlighten ne

I guess you mean you have a 2020, not 2000?

There is no difference, many people call it an estate but Toyota refer to it as a Sports Tourer.

Mine is a Touring Sports, but I'm in my 40s so it's an estate.

There was a Corolla estate in the early 2000s. I don't remember them being very popular though, at least not in the UK.

I think the switch to calling estates things like 'tourers' or 'touring sports' is partly to make them sound more exciting, and partly because unlike traditional estates most now have a more sloping tailgate glass, so unfortunately are not quite the practical load-carriers of old.

It’s just a name, others called them combi, wagon, variant and more. 
These cars are actually stretched hatchbacks or saloons and very popular in some countries. Germany for example Golf is best selling car and likely they had sold more variants then hatchbacks.

It's just called a "Sports Tourer" to make it sound more interesting.

That said I've never really understood what a "sports" car is meant to be, or what is particurly sporty about a Sports Utility Vehicle.

Well, you have it on your profile , it’s loaded and it’s driving. 👌

Sport here in these cases means you are a sporty person, a pro cyclist, surfer, kayaking, anything that practicing requires extra equipment these cars has room to take it and capability to take you to different places where you can practice your favourite sport. I just seen a Suzuki vitara drive pass me loaded with a kayak on its roof, well I thought myself these guys use their car as intended, most others does not. 👍

When I was 20 years old all my cars were "semi-sport" - that's me being a racer like driver, with a (very)slow car.

So when I had the bike rack on the back of my diesel Focus did that make it a sports hatch?   🤣

I'm still trying to find out if there is actually any difference between an Estate, a Sports Tourer, a Station Wagon, a Shooting Brake etc.
