Hi all , first post , I'm looking at buying a Corolla in the next few months, it'll be a 2019 / 69 year , I'm wondering about the hybrid Battery on that year of vehicle, hopefully I'll be getting a fairly low mileage car , the hybrid Battery does it last for a long time , is it something to take in to consideration or not ? Many thanks, Dave

I suspect you be all right but if you going to take it for a test drive before starting the engine plug in a ODB-II scan tool then open Dr. Prius on your phone.

Setting up varies between phones Samsung connect via settings.

Iphone connect via app. Note some scan tools are for Samsung only.

Look up Dr Prius to see what you need to look out for.

Ideally all pack voltages the same, A very low voltage diffrance between packs.

Note this item is covered under waranty for 10 Years it advances every year by one year after a HV service.   (Part of a normal Toyota Hybrid service.)

All Hybrid components (converter, transmission, ECU, HV Battery, etc) is standard 5 years/60 000miles warranty regardless you maintain your car in the dealership or not. None of them are related to oil and filter changes that you can do DIY or garage with VAT number.  However, your engine 3 years warranty need mechanics with VAT number maintenance for oil change.

You only need Hybrid-system-check after 5 years and it is included in any Annual inspection (oil and fluid changes) in dealership.  However, you also can opt just the hybrid-system-check for the 15 years/unlimited miles hybrid Battery warranty and do oil change at home. The warranty is only for the Battery for 15 years.

I am in route of DIY, since the 3 years warranty is over because the maintenance cost after 3 years is marked up 50%-100% more expensive by dealership. They take an advantage of famous Relax-warranty scheme.  I don't bite it. Just regular oil, and filter changes and I know it will last for at least 15years/200k miles with normal maintenance. I do 5-7k miles oil change and keep my car from consuming any oil between oil changes.

If you want to sell the car later. You can do 1 time annual inspection and automatically get 10k miles/1 year warranty to the new owner. It is transferable and can be activated anytime, 30 days after we pass the inspection.

No oil consumptions means less risk on clogged EGR, head gasket leaks, and catalytic converter problems (unless stollen).
