Just had an alert when shutting the car down saying keyfob Battery low, replace Battery.

The car was only serviced a few months ago. Aren’t they supposed to replace it?

No they're not, you have to ask

You can get this even with a recent Battery. Perhaps buy new and replace. Amazon has good ones with long expiry date. 👍

I usually replace mine myself, I think they use CR2032 button Battery, have a look on you tube for a demo of how to replace, quite simple. I recommend using a branded make of Battery so you know it’ll last, eg energiser 10 year self life

Thanks for the replies. I managed to find one in the house and replace it. Was just a bit irritated last night as I got in from work late and have a 3 day trip planned (driving)  starting early today and I didn’t want the Battery failing on me mid trip.

They are supposed to replace it every major service - It's even listed in the service schedule; Whether they do or not is a different matter - My one never has in the near-decade I've been going there.

I always ask them to give me the Battery so I can do it myself. For my most recent full service, they even gave me the wrong Battery for my current car (CR2032 instead of a 2450 - I suspect they don't even have any CR2450s  ), but this sort of this is par for the course (Luckily I can use CR2032s for my work so it won't go to waste!)

Mine was replaced on my old C-HR when it went in for a major service. I can confirm it was done as they gave me the Battery and I did it myself (I have a protective key cover on my key, which they didn't want to remove in case they damaged it).

They are changed every 20K, not on the intermediate service as you say, those 2450 batteries are twice the price of the 2032's (genuine ones that is) 😂😂

I'm not surprised, they're massive!

It's about the size and thickness of a £2 coin!! I didn't even knew they made coin cells so big!

I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last but mine's had the same Battery for coming on 3 years so far and is still working so I kept the spares I bought myself in the glovebox just in case. I expect the 'spare' key won't need a new Battery in its lifetime since I turned its transmitter off with the Hold Lock+Press Unlock twice trick.

Got a spare Battery in the car always with me. This proof to be helpful. Although even with low key Battery we can still use the emergency key to unlock and then start the car keeping the fob next to start button.

All I can add to this is don't cut costs.  I had some cheaper batteries in a blister pack from a local pound shop, but the key wouldn't even recognise it.  Purchased the exact Battery from Amazon that was already in the fob and it did the job.

Panasonic CR2032 3V Cell Power Lithium Coin Battery (Twin Pack)

As for size, they look standard to me :confused1:

The MK4 Yaris keyless entry Battery is something like cr2450. My non keyless is normal cr2032.
