Yaris 2003 1.0l - Clutch pedal vibration when driving

Hello. Hopefully somebody maybe able to point me in the right direction.

I noticed the clutch pedal vibrating whilst driving recently and so changed the plugs and all 4 coil packs (Delphi) as they hadn't been done in a while.

The car sounds a lot better and drives smoother, but I can still feel a vibration in the clutch pedal (albeit to a lesser extent)

Could anyone assist? I can feel the vibrations when parked up revving around 2000rpm.

Sounds like maybe the clutch thrust bearing may be a bit knackered?

Thanks Colin.

That's what i was worried about...ive been told that clutch bearings are a common issue with this model Yaris's.

Without taking it to a garage...do you know how much that would set me back? Before i end up selling it....

TBH, I have no idea. Stopped fixing my own cars years ago...

Had mine done about 4 years ago, same car, same year. Including the clutch it was £300. Pretty good I thought.

Thanks Alex.

The car is 20 years old but only done 63k miles...would be a shame to get rid of it. Will see what my mechanics says next week 🙏

My first thought was the release bearing, but is it a hydraulic clutch? I would have though, if it is, transmission of any vibrations from the release bearing might not be felt at the pedal?

Yes, it's a Hydraulic Clutch. Will take it to a mechanic next week for a proper check 🙂🤞

You'll be surprised at how much abuse they can take. Mine was changed at approx 90K miles and was nigh on worn out completely. The mechanic said he was surprised it worked at all. Good little cars these Yarises.

I had this problem a few years ago on my Avensis. Everyone blames the thrust bearing, It was OK before I had the clutch replaced, with new thrust bearing it vibrated,  when they replaced the clutch and bearing a 2nd time it still vibrated so definitely not the thrust bearing. I personally think it is a manufacturing error with the finger type spring on the clutch, some car makes put a damper in the hydraulic line. After a few thousand miles it seemed to bed in and eventyally go away

My mechanic had a thorough look as he felt it could have been an engine mount...glad i got it changed as i didn't want to sell it tbh!

Did a new engine mount cure it.

It doesn't make sense that there was no vibration before the new clutch was fitted, The engine mount should have give trouble before

Seems odd.

No....my engine mounts were all fine. It was down to a worn out clutch.
