Dynamic PHEV 2023 model differences

Hi. I have a RAV4 Dynamic 2022 premium plug-in hybrid. My dealer wants me to trade in for a new Sept 2023 model which he has now.

Does anyone know what the differences in spec are for the same model but 2023 ?

thanks

For one thing there is no such thing as a 2023 Dynamic Premium. My understanding is The Dynamic is (or was) available with the moon roof and JBL as options. This does not include vented seats and HUD to name but 2 Premium options. Personally I would wait until a more comprehensive upgrade arrives (possibly next year) which may have a longer EV range.

Thanks, good idea, I will view the car but as you suggest I will probably keep my 2022 model with moon roof, JBL, vented/heated seats and HUD and wait until 2024.

Just hang on for a more equivalent spec George, unless of course the draw of the smell of a car factory is too much to resist.

I’ve been to look at the new car, they said it was going to be a demo but they decided to sell it instead as no orders could be placed. It was a lower spec than my current one so I will leave it until March 2024 when my current deal finishes, dealer said they will probably change shape of the RAV4 sometime next year so may wait for that. I was tempted by the BZ4X though! Zero interest rate etc.

There may well be a facelift and tech improvements to keep competitive, however I very much doubt there will be a ‘new shape’ as such.

Have You heard any hints about longer EV range as soon as 2024?

Wold be very nice with a bit longer (some 100 km total) EV range and faster charge possibilities would be even nicer

No. It’s a very simple hypothesis that given the competition (VW, Honda, BMW etc) are all upgrading their PHEV’s range to upwards of 60 miles, the pressure will be on Toyota to keep pace. When the RAV PHEV came to market it had one of the best real world PHEV ranges. That is no longer the case. As far as other changes, who knows? It would be easy to give it the Wildlander front end for US and European markets as a mid life facelift. Personally I think it also drastically needs much improved materials in places such as the boot and door shuts.

Given the new Land Cruiser look I wouldn't be surprised to see a more retro chic style of new RAV. Would be great to be able to buy a classic looker with modern tech and even Adrian's thirst for material quality could be covered in the new Land Cruiser, plus I would get to keep my grown up buttons over the teen screen.

The retro style of the Landcruiser is Landcruiser specific because of the models heritage. What heritage does a RAV have? Very little. The RAV customer and market is very different and the RAV is the worlds best selling car. You are totally wide of the mark.

I appreciate that the questions was entirely rhetorical but ...

And while certainly not recognised as 'classic' cars the original three door models are now commanding very silly money.

Otherwise, I agree entirely - the 'original' RAV4 remains a current model unlike the Mini or Fiat 500 that have been so successfully reinvented as modern cars with heritage design cues ... 🙂

The market position of the RAV has also changed and moved significantly into a much larger vehicle segment. The original RAV is more akin to the Yaris Cross or possibly Corolla Cross for sector position. The Landcruiser is made in many different bodily and mechanically unrelated versions and body styles for different world markets.

Bye-bye RAV Design PHEV order.

After waiting nearly a year (ordered end September 2022) with car apparently "on boat" for October delivery....I have cancelled.

I am not paying over £40k for a car (now) with a cloth interior instead of synthetic leather plus most useful safely feature of blind spot monitor dropped. No brochure has been available for past year to flag changes in model spec for 2023. Toyota UK have been a total mushroom with information.

So after 7 years with Toyota....I'm gonna risk-a a Fisker!

Why not an BZ4X? Isn’t a Fisker an EV? And how do you know your order will have cloth seats? I am confused…..

It says the Design-spec has been downgraded from synthetic leather to cloth seats in DevonAygo's post.

BTW, is the 60 miles EV-range thing because of an EU requirement?

I'm wondering if they've nailed down what the minimum EV range for a hybrid to continue to be sold after 2030 is yet or not...
