The ULEZ charge in London

I have had from new a Toyota Rav4, 4x4 Diesel invincible first registered 9/9/2015.

The new ULEZ charge (which personally speaking I consider it to be a rip off) however when I check the TFL site for advice my vehicle is shown as a Rav4 Diesel vehicle which is exempt from this tax.

A search on the internet is confusing to say the least and as the car is truly an exceptional car in many ways and very economical to drive, I do not want to get rid of an excellent car to get a electric powered car.

i have read on the net about Toyota being highly rated as being very good at reducing pollution in their cars, and I have never even worried about my car being either Euro 4,5 or 6 until now.

I have printed off the TFL certificate of exemption for future use.(just in case)

Is there someone who can tell me What is my Rav4 Euro rating ?

thanks

Is it not on your V5C registration certificate.

Which engine does it have? Is it manual or automatic? (These things make the difference! 😉 )

Don't we all. This thread sums it up quite nicely

Then I'm a little surprised ... The D-CAT Auto should be / is ULEZ compliant, but the D4D Manual isn't (as I understood). Both are Euro 5 engines but the emissions control goodies on the D-CAT reduce the emissions to Euro 6 levels. See:

Thank you for that, I have had the car years it is so good on diesel and so reliable I have never looked at those details until ***** Turpin (Richard) started his highway charging campaigning.

thanks again

It all seems a bit odd ...

My previous car was a 2013 D-CAT Auto (Euro 5). Putting its registration number into the ULEZ checker reveals that it is exempt.

Someone I know with a 2014 D4D manual (Euro 5) is finding that his is not exempt and he will need to pay 😞.

So I was expecting yours to be a D-CAT Auto, but ...

Toyota discontinued the 2.2 diesel rather than making it Euro 6 compliant.

2015 cars are very hit and miss, rule of thumb is 2016 onwards diesels euro 6, most manufacturers have cars up to the upcoming euro specs in production 6-12 months before the deadline

Sadly like all things ‘Vehicle related’ these days we are entering the unknown, unproven and underhand financial persecution .
