Good job done here 👍

this rust not an issue, but it looks better now.
The one on hinges is a problem as after some time they break and cause issues and Toyota and most other garages offer full exhaust replacement at crazy high cost, where only welding is needed. First thing that broke in my Auris at age of 5 and around 47k miles. Fixed with a stainless steel clip. 😄

Hi Tony, is it a design flaw on the bracket or the positioning of it.🙂

Hi Bob,

I have no idea if it’s a design fault, most likely materials thickness and quality of the welds and treatment. Position doesn’t really matter as once you drive in the rain everything gets wet under the car, add the salt during winter and the results are obvious. Corolla suffers same thing, pretty much most cars will do. Other than that the exhaust of these cars seems robust, my fixing too, only changed once after 100k miles and now the second one is still good , no nasty vibrations and rattling noises.

Well done for covering that discolouring although it wouldn't particularly concern me because I don't crawl under the car's rear that much to check how pretty it looks. Particularly at the moment!

Still on the original, almost 10 years old exhaust, and on the rare occasion I look underneath it still looks good.

Salt is a nightmare but despite using a Karcher to the underside whenever I wash the car it's difficult to see what's going on on the underneath. Fortunately our Toyota service center does a video of the underside when it goes in for a service and MOT, not perfect but at least I can see the condition on a video.👍

It hardens at a tempriture of 400+ degrees c dont use Brake caliper paint as its tempriture is about 200+ degrees c.
