Any known issue with Toyota Corolla Hybrid 1.8 Touring Sport

Hi all,

I've traded in my current car, a 2014 Toyota Auris Touring Sport 1.6, for a used Toyota Corolla Hybrid 1.8 Touring Sport with 51,000 kilometers on the odometer. This Corolla was registered in November 2020 and comes fully loaded with features such as a head-up display, blind spot monitor, parking assist, and rear traffic alert. It looks to be in excellent condition, well maintained by its previous owner, and has a full service history at a Toyota dealership.

I hope to take the delivery of the car next week. However, before I receive it, I wanted to ask if anyone is aware of any known issues with the Corolla that I should be mindful of? I've come across mentions of potential corrosion on the tailgate hinges, and I did inspect the Corolla, but I couldn't find any visible corrosion around the hinges. I'm really hopeful that this will be a reliable car that will serve me well for many years.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice you may have. Thank you!

I've just traded in my 2020 TS Icon Tech for a 2023 Design model.  I certainly never noticed any issues with the hinges,  but the car you're look at has quite high mileage (or the Km equivalent!) but if you've looked at it, it should be fine.  Never had a single issue with my Icon Tech, apart from the specs which are much improved on the Design model. The car you're after looks fully loaded. Economy on my car was absolutely amazing.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Great to hear!

Further point .... from previous posts I spot that Android Auto etc might not be standard (at least in UK) on cars of that year.  So worth a check if that is important.

Thank you for the reply. Yes the car has an Android auto. It seems that The window moldings is an issue on the corolla and they need to be replaced on mine. Toyota dealer mentioned that they know about the issue and mine will be replaced under the warranty.

The issue I would like to bring to your attention is the very flaky software known as MyToyota. I have just taken delivery of a Corolla Hybrid Hatchback GR Sports, which will not connect to the software. There are other posts out there to suggest that this software has been bug ridden since it was introduced in March 23.

Perhaps you need to bear this in mind. - Good Luck!

Thank you and congratulations for the new car. I got the app myToyota to connect to the car yesterday. It does only have few information about the car, like the car location, fuel status and some trip info. Very basic app.

The new, March 2023, version of the app is only for some other Toyota models. The Corolla still uses the older version.

If you can't connect maybe you have downloaded the wrong app.

Hi Don, Thanks for your reply. I did actually download both versions of the app, and during the log-in process etc, I got so far with either app, but the annoying thing was the fact that both apps referred me to the other app, so I was caught up in a perpetual loop.

I do, however, have some good news to share. I spoke with my dealership, who suggested that I delete the vehicle from both apps and start again. (My Corolla appears to be using the newer app at this time)  During the install process, I was greeted with a message that this app would not work in 'your country' - strange, I am in the UK!

However, I noted that I have Nord VPN installed on my phone, and that this was connected to a server in the UK, so I switched off Nord VPN, but still not working, but when I deleted Nord VPN from my phone, and the phone no longer was working in VPN, the installation when ahead! So anyone out there with any issues, may wish to look to see if they are in a similar position as me.

I've yet to exploite the app (I have managed to get it to install by removing my Nord VPN app from my phone) and now installation has gone ahead. Thank you again.
