Has anyone come across this. Could this be a rusted freeze plug , core plug ?

If so, has anyone advice on what to do please

Thanks

Hi there John,

Not got experience with your vehicle (other here will have a much better idea) but have seen a corroded core plug seeping water once in the past, can't remember what that vehicle was now it was so long ago.

I also remember when I was first driving (years back) a woman driving a Mini pulling in off the main road with clouds of white steam billowing out from under the tiny bonnet. We went to look at the engine for her and my Dad spotted that there was a core plug missing from the cylinder block. In any event she had to have the vehicle recovered and was told it was an engine out job to get fixed. An expensive job given the parts are only worth a few coppers.

I would imagine it would be the same case for most other engines as those plugs are pressed in, to the best of my knowledge, which I'll admit isn't extensive.

Lots of easy access and a big hammer might prove possible perhaps!

John you haven't said which engine? That may help you with answers.

I have had the same problem with a 93 estima AWD 2.2td cxr20, If the water is running down between engine and bell housing  jack up the back of the van and the water will run a straighter path from where the leak is, you will probably find it is one of the four core plugs along the right side of the cylinder block. Mine, the fore most two were rusty second one from the front leaked. You will see them if you look just over the oil sump pan. Remove oil sump bottom then top and it is easy to see to replace.

Hope this helps it had be baffled too why the water was so far back.
