Hello did any of you guys ever have your AC pump pulley outer metal thing come off .I was checking my breaks today and spotted a silver wheel in my sump guard .I not sure Is this to make the pump spin when AC is on or just to hold on the wheel .can't understand why came off .IMG-20230905-WA0010.thumb.jpeg.bd8dac6565dc48e456d62f986ce7e26d.jpegIMG-20230905-WA0012.thumb.jpeg.5f3c3978ab4f49104c5b9caad162b973.jpegIMG-20230905-WA0016.thumb.jpeg.dd8d17ad9164aa380a673d1179432b90.jpegIMG-20230905-WA0010.thumb.jpeg.bd8dac6565dc48e456d62f986ce7e26d.jpeg

plus I have a wee click in my engine think coming from the fuel rail is this what Toyota's supposed to sound like .it's a 2.0 d4d. 1adftv 2014 .sound is not as bad when engine cover is on but when off you can hear it

It's the A/C compressor clutch -  supplied as part of the pump but you can get aftermarket clutches

be aware there maybe 3-4 compressor types, so you need to know what you have on the car

Hi Joe,

I thought I could see a screw thread in your images. Normally pulleys, tensioners and the like are held on with a screw thread that runs in the oppsite direction to direction of rotation of the part. Not sure as a spot weld is right way to hold that on. Perhaps as it looks like a cover plate to keep the AC pump/compressor clutch clean then it might be better to bond the cover on if the thread hasn't been stripped out of it.

There may be a better product but I've found CT1 to be an excellent adhesive it's one of those newish hybrid sealer adhesives they do now or Locktite Threadlocker. If you do go for one of these I would allow a full day for the stuff to cure fully before use.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but A/C system is not made by Toyota itself, they are ordering whole system from other manufacturers, I beleave it was "Denso" who are making for Toyota.

And about your issue, this is nothing new, this happens. If you can refit it, than its great, if not, you'll need a new compressor, which costs approximately 100-150€ if you dont have some special compressor.

Most of compressor running life is approximately at 100 000km

i was thinking if i could get it put on again with blue lock tight and hope maybe spit welded so dont come off and  if maybe need a new compressor il have to get one i think im sure my one is a denso but going to have to look and see if can see a modle number i rang toyota today and they are looking for £1025 for a new one . tbh i bought a shorter belt for it hope maybe do away with the ac pump. when you say 100000km well this is why i couldn't believe it as my car has only 56k miles on the engine .well at least i found the metal part in the bottom plastic engine cover so at least i can put it back on again with thread locker and hope maybe spot weld it . my mechanic going to look at it on Thursday next week for me . i came across this video i think it looks like mine with that metal stone guard so he calls it . my one just came off i wonder would it stay on if i could get it on there tight ok

For that 100 000km range, is for the internal parts, like reliability wise, it should be working for atleast that much range. Anything else, should not happen at all, but anything can affect your issue, like vibration, something stuck in between parts, tensioner, belt, etc.

Your 1k price is from dealer is too much for a compressor. I can think only 1 scenario, when it could actually be so expensive, is that it has 3 lines coming out of the compressor, but they are very rare occurance. Most of compressors have 1 line in and 1 line out of compressor. The 3rd line, are for vehicles, that depends on heating the vehicle with A/C system, and not the engine heat (this is for winter time), and these compressors are found on electric, or hybrid car (not all of them)

An Interesting and very explanetary video you found there Joe.

My guess on that disc you found being a cover/guard turns out to be right but watching that thing being dismantled and the clutch assembley replaced makes me wonder, how would the guard come off? The guard and the clutch should be locked up tight together so something (someone) has caused it to become free enough to come off. Wonder if the bearing in the clutch may have siezed?

If you do go ahead and have the cover plate refitted, having now seen how the clutch pulley, clutch and cover are assembled, I would not spot weld it! If you spot weld you'll likely not be able to remove/seperate the clutch from the compressor, also the heat could damage the clutch internals. If it turns out you need a new clutch you won't be able to replace it and be forced to source a replacement AC compressor, a more expensive option.

you need to replace the clutch as you will never get air gap correct

Oems for Toyota are Bosch, Denso and Valeo

PM me your VIN then we can see what's compressor it is - and work out a clutch

£150 for a used compressor, factory recon or new are £400 - 1500

well i put my ac on full blast today going to work and well tbh no noise or nothing coming from the ac compressor at all i cant believe my mechanic tole me that he thinks my ac pump is goosed . well tbh i might try to fix it on myself and put it on with red lock tight so it will never come off. plus i think these last long enough to the actual pump !Removed! itself first not the pulley and clutch .well i also have blue lock tight but thinking maybe if not strong enough maybe red lock tight the stronger one would maybe be better .anyone on here ever do the ac compressor by pass with a shorter belt on a 2015 2.0 1ADFTV  engine. a friend toold me that if maybe get a tensioner from a rav 4 and use that with a shorter belt might be a better fit as maybe bypassing the ac pump with shorter belt maybe still be to loose .i have ordered a genuine shorter belt from toyota and well have to pick it up they say will be in Friday but going to call and see if can leave out for me to pick up sat .this is the ac pump says its on my car
