HVAC fans, noisy

With this sudden hot weather we've been having, it's late 20s outside,  I find that I need the AC on Low. Boy what a noise the fans make. Inside the car, it's all serene and quiet, but outside, it's like a jet plane preparing for take off.

Fans do make quite a noise because they are working against atmospheric pressure, and this will be most noticeable when the air is being pushed along convoluted tubing.   If sound levels inside the car are not a problem, why would you be bothered about outside noise?

I assume that you have the aircon on and the car in Ready mode and Park so that you can listen from the outside?

The AC fans won't make much noise at all (it's all serene and quiet) but running the AC compressor will draw a significant current from the 12V system. Which the car will need to supply by running the engine. And since the car is standing still, with the engine running on a hot day, the engine cooling fan will need to run quite hard to keep it cool.

Possibly ... ?

Hahah , the comparison to jet engine its kind of funny but true 👍

This is absolutely normal to hear your radiator fans on and off and louder than usual. They will come on every time the AC compressor switches ON , you will hear these buzzing noises and how they increase then the AC will be on and off every now and then. If you are driving you won’t notice, only noticeable when stationary. If the compressor is buzzing loud all the time and at high rpm may point toward low gas in the system. If the radiator fans are very noisy and rumbling means they might be faulty, although in a recent 2022 car non of these should be present. If you are unsure you can record a video, share with us the noises from out and inside the car and we will let you know if all ok or there is something unusual.

i've never set my climate control to low. I am currently running mine at 21 oC and find that sufficient and keeps the interior of the car lovely and cool.  I may ocassionaly put it to 20 oC, but find that is too icy for me and put it back to 21.

The thing is when you run it at low it will just go full blast and not regulate, therefore the fans will more than likely be running at full tilt most of the time.

I remember I had a Renault Zoe which had a heat pump and my goodness, that really did sound like a jet engine taking off and not just outside of the car either 🤣

Yes, I forgot something and needed to pop back indoors to get it.

Car in Ready/Park AC on Low as it was baking, ICE not running, as is often the case when stopped, but the sounds of fans were noticble

There's a bit of confusion here.  Some are talking about the internal ventilation fan and others about the under bonnet fan for the AC condenser and radiator.  I think the OP doesn't realise they are separate and can work independently.

I think the OP was referring to the fan under the bonnet for the condenser as they said it’s serene and quiet inside which is surprising considering they have the temperature set to low as that generally puts the internal fan up high, unless the fan has been turned down manually which would take it off auto.

Today, I noticed it was much quieter outside. AC temp the same, but outdoor temp, much lower at 18. Conclusion, the [condenser?] fan works harder when it's hotter outside.
