Servicing/dealership warranty worth it?

I looked up the depreciation for a 2017 aygo here. It's about 5000 euro in 6 years.

I want a new car with warranty and in perfect state. I don't want second hand. I know that that costs more but I don't mind.

I believe maintenance cost and depreciation are two completely different things.

I also believe if I would maintain the car myself that it would be in perfect condition always cause I would do it maybe better than the dealer does. It would just cost a lot less.

So...  the reliability being affected by not visiting the dealer is not an issue.

Free warranty and assistance is, for me.

Everybody can have an other idea than me... I don't mind. But for my car and my wallet, it's of course my idea that counts 😀

I do think the dealers are milking the cow hard on selling and upselling maintenance. I feel, as an aygo buyer, they don't need to bang my door too much for donations.

But going cheap on servicing won't exactly improve that. Whatever complaints we may make, a car with a full dealer service history will be worth more than one with something else.

I'm not talking bangernomics either, just something a few years old and out of or near the end of most manufacturers' warranty. At that point the worst of depreciation is done, you can economise on servicing without worrying about warranty claims, and expect a good number of years of fairly trouble free motoring.
