Hi all i was doing a test to see how far my yaris would go before it ran out off fuel, and it did run out off fuel with a warning sound and a display telling me to read the manual,my plan was when this happened was to see how far i could drive on the Battery but due to my situation , i had spare fuel topped up and drove off without doing the test has anyone been in this situation.

Also has anyone had a Battery fault with there hybrid Battery (not the 12v battery) maybe blown fuse or some other issue and still been able to drive on the petrol motor.

Well, well....you got away with it. Do not do this on a hybrid. The hybrid Battery will deplete and required a recovery to a Toyota dealer to charge the hybrid Battery, all at your cost and time. It's not like a petrol/diesel only car.

Lol, what an idea really.
You had been very lucky indeed.
Toyota hybrids can not drive at all without fuel in or without hybrid Battery
If you run out of petrol or run out of electric power you will not be able to continue driving the car.

that would have been a very costly test, never let a hybrid drop below a 1/4 of a tank, remember with a hybrid the alternator and starter is part of the HSD system, No main Battery the car is dead

Please tell me you're joking???

As soon as the low fuel light comes on, I'm putting fuel in. On my first full tank since getting my Gen.4, the fuel light means 6 L of fuel is remaining. I'm about to test this again and see how consistent it is. 6 L is very healthy reserve, and the car did a little over 500 miles last tank (30.4 L / 6.68 imp. gal. / 74.8 MPG). It won't make it that far this time as I was a tiny bit of a hooligan at the 800 mile mark.

Is this a wind up?

No its a Hybrid, it uses petrol and batteries as a power source 🙃

Fuel light came on with "distance remaining" showing 20 miles as before. By the time I got to the fuel station, it was down to 16 miles. 31 L exactly was put in.
