Locking Fuel Cap?

Just thinking... although the fuel door locks it can surely be ripped open easily enough...  Has anybody replaced the filler cap with a locking one as a second protection?

A friend with an i30 N was told he had sand in his tank.. fancy enough stand out car, maybe someone spiteful. Barrier against that sort of thing.

Any recommendations?

It's understandable that increasing protection on a car gives some peace of mind.Cat locks, immobilizer, bypass switches etc etc. The problem is if someone is determined to get into the fuel tank either for theft or malicious intent they will do so. Lockable petrol caps may be a deterrent to the opportunist but if they rip off or force the cover they will probably lever the lockable cap off regardless of the damage.

Sad reflection but true.☹️

True, but at the same time, someone might find it easy enough to pop it out in an attempt, but maybe not want to use much impact or do any noticeable damage if they want to put sand in or something?

The old Vauxhall's I've seen had a similar cap and it seemed they could be forced open, then shut and still work well enough to not be aware of it having been forced open once or twice?
