If the windscreen is damaged, can the camera be transfered to a new windscreen and are the the windscreen replacement companies familiar with this?

Posted

I had a new windscreen fitted last winter and they transferred the rear view mirror and camera sensor pod over to the new glass, and connected it all up and recalibrated it as part of the replacement.

I don't know about all of them, but certainly the dealers and Autoglass are aware of these ADAS systems, as they're called, and will transfer them over, although it's a bit of a pain as you need to goto them, not like the old days where they could come to you to just swap the glass over.

I had a replacement in my 22 Corolla, auto glass took care of everything and recalibrated , I also had a head up display, no issues

You definitely need an ADAS calibration with a new screen, otherwise, line assist/cruise control can be affected.
