Whirring when trying to start aygo

Hi,

Every time I try to start my 2007 aygo, it makes a whirring noise when I turn the key. The starting motor looks relatively new, shiny nuts on it etc, so not sure if it could be that? It will start but normally takes a good few turns of the key. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Because it's new doesn't mean it's good, sounds like a dying starter motor to me (solenoid not engaging)
