Electronic handbrake noise ?

Anyone else noticed the noise that the electronic handbrake makes ?

I've never really noticed it much when driving the car but it seems quite loud from outside, ie when operating on and off when parking, etc

Hi, 

Is it the noise from the actuators we are talking about? 
If yes, then it is normal and I can hear this every time someone park next to me since early days of 2000’s and Renault Laguna’s . 👍

My Volvo and Passat were the same. Doesn’t register with me anymore.

Hi Tony, not really sure if it's actuators, I'll need to record it and post it.

Hm, 

then recording and posting here it will be a good idea.
Other rav4 owners can hear and compare to theirs for reference.  Could be the pads sticking to the discs.

Yes I have noticed the noise its just the brake motors going taking brakes on or off.

You forget about it after a while unless you open the windows.

The PHEV makes a lot of weird noises when you hit the READY button, many associated with the various inverters and HVAC systems. I find the hand brake noise somewhat reassuring, it lets me know it’s activating or deactivating.
