Diesel injectors 2009 Avensis 180bhp options...

Hi all,

Had some pretty serious issues with our 2009 (T270) Toyota Avensis T Spirit 2.2 D4D D-CAT manual estate.

I won't bore you, but this engine has suffered some horrendous failures as a result of a block DPF including the failure of all 4 injectors, some are worse than others, but in order for me to be able to move forward with diagnosis and repair I need a full set of injectors....Problem, they cost a fortune and are hard to come by, new or used.

So, the number on my injectors is the following:

23670-0R080Googling brings up the Denzo part number

DCRI200410.

I have found alternative part numbers, unsure which are accurate but I have the following:

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/toyota-verso-dpnr-2009-onwards-new-denso-diesel-injector-dcri200410.html

23670-26050
23670-29135
295900-004X
295900-016X
23670-26051
23670-29136
295900-035X
295900-041X
23670-0R080
HU295900-007X
23670-0R081
HU295900-038X

Is the above website known to anyone here as genuine?  As these seem half the price of everywhere else...too good to be true and all of that?  Alternatively I have been looking at Lexus IS220d engines, can I buy a 2AD-FHV engine and swipe the injectors?

Cheers all

Mike

The website certainly seems genuine, they're quite active on Twitter, where they actually mention their injectors, here's their Trustpilot score, and a link should you wish to check for yourself, I never take such reviews as gospel but they can be helpful as a guide.

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/pfjones.co.uk

I would contact them, ask them where they source their stock, what kind of warranty etc etc.

Good idea...called them and they have confirmed all injectors advertised as new are indeed new direct from the manufacturer.

PF Jones are a legitimate company, never had a problem with them, why do you think they would tell you where they sourced their goods from? That is their business surely? 🤔

I would think it's also the business of a potential purchaser, especially given the price & technical nature, posing the question might also influence that potential purchase depending on the answer.

It's a question I would certainly ask were I in the OP's position.

They are a Denso agent, legitimately selling Denso products, I suspect they come from Denso if being sold as a genuine Denso part.

Indeed they are, It also seems they were happy enough to answer the question.

They were happy to tell me they would be as described. I.e if listed as new then I would receive a new item as supplied by the manufacturer, I have since ordered a set. At £1200 it made me wince, but it's a dam sight better than the alternatives! (£550+ each).

Ouch! Hope that sorts your problem out, It might be bit "stable door horse bolted" type thing but there's a guy on YT and I reckon 95% of his work is (mobile) dpf stuff, pretty knowledgeable about regens, forced regens & problems etc etc, not afraid to say when he's using best guess judgement, worth a look if you have a DPF.

This was a transit that he couldn't "cure" but at least got it running.

Cheers, the DPF issue has been resolved for now.

Just need to get these injectors fitted and see how we go, hopefully nothing else to trip us up, Turbo is prob the only thing left that could be an issue after these injectors.

Supplier called me. No stock at Denso or in their warehouse. Nightmare.

Anyone have any information regarding the is220d 130kW 2AD-FHV engine? Same injectors?

Nope IS220d has a different injector to the Toyotas.

To be 100% I would need a chassis number however Toyota offer Denso reconditioned Injectors for £223.04 each + vat  for a MK3 Avensis 2.2 Dcat 2ADFHV

Damn, thought I was onto a winner there!

Do I need to contact Toyota for that price? I can get the VIN later once home, should be on the V5.

I've been asking around and a couple of places that might be worth talking to are, dont laugh ..."Diesel Bob", who reconditions injectors.

http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/

Note his "busy meter" is currently on "crazy"

Also there's Ribble Valley Diesels who do sell remanned injectors but dont currently list one specifically for your needs, the pic is just to show their price.

https://www.ribblevalleydiesels.co.uk/

It might be worth a couple of calls.

Cheers, will check them out.

What does everyone think of this?

https://www.dencodiesel.com/pages/identifying-your-toyota-common-rail-injectors-denso

That can't be right, that the second sert of numbers makes no difference?  Surely thats the difference in my case of them being Piezo (130kW models) electric or solenoid?

Oddly also, putting my car details into various injector suppliers actually comes up woith a different part number compared to what we've pulled from my car, 23670-0R040?  Of which there are plenty of options on eBay.... Presumably, if we are able to get an injector coded, then we can buy any injector that is suitable for the 130kW 2.2D d4d D-CAT engine? Or do we have restricted options still?

"The last number just indicates a minor manufacturer change"

I suppose that could mean something like a rubber seal having the same physical dimensions etc but with a minor compound change, or an item made to exactly the same spec but by a different supplier, the second number change might be something to help with traceability ?

ETA: I noticed on the Ribble Valley site that they dont offer services for piezo injectors, I think at this stage I'd be ringing around and speaking to some of the specialists.

Fingers crossed those get you sorted, it's a lot of money for an older car, my own is four years older and high mileage, I'd either be going the cheapest route or just scrapping it,which would be a shame as they have a lot of plus points, anyway good luck and keep us posted.

Well at the moment I owe my mechanic in the region of a grand to get to this point. If I scrap it now I owe money, if I can get it running for another 2k, I can sell it and break even....that's my logic.  Well to be more precise, I'll sell my other car and recoup as much as I can to cover the damage.

I've already bought my wife an alternative car, a little Honda Jazz. Reliable as they come... so they say. But means I'll now get the choice of my Saab estate or the Avensis estate.... assuming the injectors get us on the road.
