Does your Verso-S burns engine oil so much too?

It seems my 2012 Verso-S, 1NRFE 1.33 automatic burns our quiet a bit of engine oil. I think rough for 1000 miles im adding 300ml of oil...

Im a huge fan of this car care nut guy on YouTube and according to him it's piston rings and old type pistons. Ive checked with the Toyota recently how many hours to get the piston rings changed and its apparently an 18hr job...

I use 0w20 fully synthetic and now thinking to use 0w30 on my next oil change to see if that gonna help the oil burns. 0w30 hasn't been recommended on the Verso-S manual and im also wondering if 0w30 is actually good or bad...

Sadly it's quite common for that engine; Apparently they used low-friction piston rings, but it turns out they're a bit *too* low friction, and don't do a good job of wiping the oil off the cylinder walls.

Later revisions of the engine apparently fixed it, but by the sound of it you have an earlier one!

I had the same engine in my 2009 Mk2 Yaris, and by the time I traded it in for the Mk4 I was topping up something like a litre of oil a month!
