2007 Avensis D4D running issues

Hi All

I'm having an ongoing issue with my 2.2 diesel 07 Avensis which has done just over 170000 miles; starts on the button but when cold it struggles to rev. If you plant the throttle it chuggs like it's on 2 cylinders and wont rev at all! You have to coax it for about a minute and then itll clear its throat and rev up.

Also bogs terribly if you dont rev it first when pulling out of junctions 😑😯 which is a little scary at times!

I've cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the MAF sensor with a proper Denso unit, rest the ECU (disconnected Battery for 30 mins).

I'm now at a bit of a loss, I'm more old school (points and condenser!) So dunno what to try next. I dont want to throw loadsamoney at it as it's not worth it 😔 and I spent 700 quid getting it through an mot last month.

I would be extremely greatful for any ideas anyone may have.

Many thanks, Dave 👍

Hi Iscaman

The car starts easily, first time every time, and will idle absolutely fine. It's when you introduce the throttle that it doesn't  like it! Oh, and this is the newer model, mines the 03-07 one.

Thanks anyway, Dave 🙂👍
