I would be very unhappy about that and regard it as a warranty claim - not a normal event.

Does the MY23 Excel use real leather or one of the new leather substitutes? Either way, I would expect the material to be stable and not prone to any stretching. I'd be wondering about what's going on in the cushioning underneath and in the quality of the overall construction.

Hope you can get this sorted.

No real leather in Toyota cars since long time ago. The 2019:excel has really good seat materials and also Yaris cross gr sport. Corolla design 2022-> also a good materials. No idea of these latest seats, but this are not good news.

Nope my excel seats look great and on a side note my 2012 prius to spirt with leather is looking like brand new even with 370,000 miles on it... So I suspect something amiss.

My drivers seat balloons a little too, nothing I'd say looks bad. But it's certainly not taut anymore.

Comparison to older cars especially those made before 2019 will not be accurate as these cars has different seat design, materials etc. Some even has parts made of real leather too. I have seen 2021 examples with full leather that has ballooned a bit and few with crack lines on the side bolsters.
Interesting about owners of latest trek 2022 , they have full faux leather seats that look similar dotted pattern to 2023 excel, although seats design are different.
Seats shapes change and materials wear will depend on use but also on driver and passenger bodies weight too, therefore it will be very individual case for each.
Any pictures will be nice to see what we are talking about.

It has supagard leather guard applied, valeter commented on the ballooning and bolster, I’ll try to upload some photos later, it’s useful to know if other recent owners of my23 have noticed any changes in their cars

Hard to see the seat on these photos but it pops up quiet a bit when pressed and released.
Local dealer is going to replace the leather seat cover as it’s not tight for some reason whether hooks or stitching

Last picture looks bad indeed, the first two ok to me. Let see what dealer will do.
Good luck

Suggest you ask the dealer to pay for any replacement parts to be valeted to match!

It’s a different dealer as original one was hopeless, I’ve got spare supagard cream etc to treat it, that’s a whole other story on a different thread

Faux leather. If that's the case then I feel cheated/mislead. The brochure makes no mention of it not being genuine leather and it certainly wasn't mentioned by the dealer. If it is fake then I would have opted for the Design grade instead of the Excel.

The 2022 Tek I test drove, last year, and was lent for whole of August, looked and smelt just like leather. As does my Excel. Are we sure they no longer use the real thing? My wife's Kia E-niro is Vegan friendly leather, but Kea make that a selling point. It looks really though it clearly is not leather.

how does that look now after (exactly) one year?

I just bought a 2023 plate Corolla TS and the backseat is slightly lose in the middle, although I'm not particularly bothered, I wondered if that could be a problem in the future and therefore try to get that sorted under warranty now.

I have the same exactly the same issue on the drivers seat of my 8 month old 2024 Corolla Excel T.S. It looks as though the leather/faux leather has come detached from the supporting foam underneath, as it 'balloons' upwards by 2cm/3cm. I will have the issue recorded at my supplying Toyota dealer and repaired when my car goes in for its first service in 4 months time. It's such a shame a well sorted car design still has such quality issues emerging, the problem is clearly due to a bad batch seat material and/or poor seat assembly batch.

I think there is no point of trying to fix that because it’s simply unfixable.
The problem seems to me it is from hard leatherette materials used in combination with softer foam and no glue or not enough strong glue.
Any full leather seats on any exel car will become the same soon or late.
Even if they change the seats with new in few months time they will look the same. I did tested a Corolla excel with these seats and didn’t like at all. Seats makes you slide because of the leather. The GR sport has the best seats of all trims.
