Is the brake pump cycling more often than usual? After the initial pump to pressurise the accumulator, if car is stationary, not touching brakes, pump should not cycle again for a long time. It's a symptom of an internal pressure leak in the booster/ accumulator and that's not cheap. Best do proper diagnosis to be sure, but don't think anything else would cause that assuming no external fluid leak

Thanks , yes no external leaks and oil level staring same ,  but pump is working every 20 seconds i can hear the noise without touching the brakes .

How can i do proper diagnosis to find out that if it is booster or accumulator.

I think that it's possible to pump up pressure then listen carefully with stethoscope and hear the fluid leak through valves or wherever. However, if it were mine I'd replace both and have done. You could ring dealer and see if there's any extended warranty on these possibly? You also need techstream or a decent scan tool to bleed system. Look on YouTube there's loads of videos

Its an import Toyota uk does not want to know

Yes I like to change both  but cannot afford right now or if i can find out the part numbers i may search online to see if its available.

I have checked on Japanese Toyota website and recall work is not done because car was imported in 2018 and recall started in 2018 in Japan .

took it to couple of machenacis and a junkyard, they saying its very difficult to find the parts as ECU is not compatible with UK models and they are not giving any warranty on work .

I think if i can find out the part numbers maybe i can order them from japan used ones.

Toyota dealer showed be able to source parts for you or give you part numbers at least . If not then you can use website https://japancars.ru

locate your car and find the parts in question. Then locate a uk spec Prius and compare the part numbers, if they are the same means the parts are the same. You can go ahead and buy uk spec part and replace. If not, then search in Google with the part number and you can find parts available from other countries, buy from them.
If garages unfamiliar with these cars, look for Japan cars specialists around you or London. Organise it and travel. Avoid any place that has no idea about these cars as they will most likely mess your car and then take no responsibility, that’s why they say no warranty. , but happy to take your money.

Thanks , i did manage to take picute of  brake booster assembly,

The scrapyard said the SG code whch i was not able to take the picture is the issue, UK model booster assembly may will not work on import as ECU will not accept the new part so no warranty on work .

SG is written on top left of the assembly if you check from the front . Does anyone know what does that SG mean .

  • 9 months later...

I wonder how you fixed the issue since I have the same issue with my 2011 prius, the pump comes up every 8 secs without touching the brake.

I have same error codes: C1252 occasionally ,but always get C1253 and 1256 with my 2012 Prius, beeps stiff brake pedal ,brakes work but no power assistance for the pedal .If I reset codes wih my OBD2 ,and let car sit for a day or 2 then drive a few miles codes don't appear. However over longer distances the problem comes back
