Has anyone hardwired a Dashcam to their new Corolla, I had a Nextbase 522gw previously but wired not to draw power from the car when engine off.
Thinkware draws power in parking mode which concerns me about damaging and  draining the Battery, alternatively fitting a dedicated Battery would not drain the car Battery, but expensive option, just wondered if anyone has experienced this

I have thinkware, got a piggy back fuse and socket  for cam lead and went to the ignition fuse for the armrest power point. Works perfectly,  just no parking mode which i don't  want.

Yes, while parking mode is efficient on thinkware I would want an external Battery if using that. Nextbase 622gw is currently a good price but likely thinkware is a more reliable product.
Nextbase IQ has been waiting release for 2 years and doesn’t give me confidence that the product isn’t having development issues

This is for commercial vehicles, the Battery in Nextbase lasts a very short time, like 20 mins.   External batteries are better. Depends if u want parking mode

I had a Nextbase Dashcam, 522gw installed by my dealer I think - I will check. Not aware of any issues, not quite sure how mine has been powered, but like I say, fitted by the dealer.

I have a522 from old car but not wired, could go with a new 622 and wire it, comes with 256gb card, thinkware 32gb and not 4k at front but maybe superior product

i has a replacement card in the 522 that failed

Had the Nextbase 380gw hardwired by dealer. Only works with ignition on. You can buy a Battery for around £25 that fits inside the Dashcam for parking mode if you require. I don't have the Battery with mine. It works really well so far.

When I had my 380 hooked up it recorded 51 protected video's over a 2 day period but the video's are not as long as a normal recording, some were a couple of seconds long some over a minute depending if there was much movement in front of the camera.

Ditto. You either have to max out on SD card capacity or regularly check the recordings and unlock the protected ones so they don't use up all the storage.

I’m looking at viofo a139 pro, seems to have latest Sony camera, reported to be better than Nextbase 622gw which will be replaced by the iq soon. Thinkware while best at parking mode is prohibitively expensive.
Unless buying an external Battery I cant see parking mode lasting very long periods on any Dashcam without affecting the car Battery even when they cut off it’s an extra long term strain on the car Battery
I’ve h used the internal battery on a Nextbase 522 and it lasted 15 mins.

Decided to go with FineVu GX1000, actually competitive, you need to find an installer, but high birate even with 2k and Sony sensor is as good as many 4k, front and rear same set up, excellent parking modes which doesn’t need external Battery, power save mode is up to 96 days! app is advanced and it has AI. 3 year warranty too.
However if u want cloud services this isn’t the cam to go for

If that is wired to a permanent live and turned on it will record 5 mins of gsensor detects a bump, so long as the power save is on it will turn off monitoring at 11.6v, that’s a bit low for a hybrid.
I chose the finevu due to it only drawing 0.06w in the same mode, it also has several voltage cut off choices. Not found the power draw figure on the 622 yet but it’ll be higher.

If it's like mine, it not wired to a permanent live. It has its own internal Battery for parked recording.

I’ve had a Nextbase 522, the internal Battery lasts about 15 min, it’s designed for shutdown.
Most cameras have supercapacitors now as lithium is considered a fire risk, the new Nextbase IQ series have moved to super capacitor
