I'm constantly reminded to check the rear seat - after some investigation, it would appear that there is a setting for this known as a rear seat reminder, and believe it or not, to remind you that you may have a small child or left something on the back seat! I have noticed it a number of times now, and assumed that there was an issue with the back seats.
However, there is supposed to be a setting to be able to switch this off:
Settings - Vehicle Customise - Utility, and then Rear Seat Reminder should be here, and be able to be switched off. However, it's not there, and no doubt this will annoy me. Anyone have any knowledge of this? - I think the instructions I read may have been in an American version of the Corolla.

Leave the rear seat-belts plugged in? Works for me.

That wouldn't get rid of the warning the OP is talking about.

I'm surprised the setting isn't there - Maybe it's been moved?

If you can access the Manuals section of the Toyota website, be worth double-checking:

(Stopped working for me  )

I’m surprised, I thought this feature was only on the Excel model

Oh? The only warning I've ever got from my Excel is the rear seat belt alert when I've had items of luggage on the seats. Clipping the rear seat belts into place seems to stop it.

I think it uses the blind spot monitors and that’s only in Excel

I think you're confusing the "safe exit assist", which gives a warning if a rear door is opened when something is approaching, with the rear seat reminder.

The rear seat reminder works off whether a rear door has been opened and closed.

The “Check rear seats“ reminder on my Excel comes on regardless of whether the rear doors have been opened or not ? Bit annoying really but I can’t find any setting to turn off either !

That's a separate one (I get that too if I don't belt my bag in  ); There's another one, where it just flashes up a reminder to check the rear seats when you turn the car off. (I don't know which models do it, but my Yaris Mk4 does it!)

We thought it was triggered by seat weight sensors (I usually stick my bag on the back seat), but apparently it's much simpler - If you open the rear doors, that triggers the warning to appear when you turn the car off regardless of whether you actually put anything there!

It doesn't always show - Sometimes if I take my seatbelt off too quickly it'll override the message with the EPB Automatically applied message, and sometimes I just see the hybrid score, so it's not 100% consistent!

I think those may well be American.

On mine it's in the Settings menu (instrument panel) > Vehicle settings (right at the bottom)

That's the warning I had hoped to turn off, however, at least I know that there is nothing wrong with the back seat, which I did believe at first!

I have a Yaris 2024 and no in mine there is no so called on and off button in the settings - vehicle settings - below oil maintance is my last option- apparently in some below that is mentioned rear seat warning but mine does not have it. The garage even find it strange. Every time i get a message on my app check rear seat. Did anyone find the problem or it is a glitch in the system. BTW i have a Yaris 2024 model new full dashboard led screen. And in my multimedia i cannot find it neither.

On my Corolla I turned off notifications for rear seat in the app itself as well as the car.

On the app it's:

account

notification settings

rear seat reminder off

(and also the alerts about doors/etc unlocked/open as they didn't seem to be reliable.)
