Installing Appleplay in satnav

Our daughter’s BMW has an OE satnav which came with the standard system installed, but she also has Apppleplay installed and can switch from one to the other.  She generally uses the Appleplay system, but changes to the OE system when the other is in a weak signal area.

As a passenger on a recent journey with her, I was impressed by the Appleplay route guidance, and would like to have this as the main system on my C-HR, which was first registered in June 2021,  I am wondering if this is possible with my car, and if anyone with a similar vehicle has gone down this route?  Comments would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bob.  I’ll try that - from my observations, the Appleplay gives much better lane guidance information.

Yesterday, installed Appleplay on my satnav.  Found it much better than that already installed by Toyota - and the updates are automatic and free, whereas you have to pay for a map update with the Toyota system.

Regardless of make of car, I am finding that many of my close family have switched to Appleplay.  The only thing you have to be careful of is that your iPhone has enough data to satisfy your use of the satnav.

By buying a post 2020 car ... 😉

AA and ACP were introduced early in 2020 with certain 2019 models able to get a paid for upgrade.

My 2021 C-HR already has Appleplay facility built in.  It was just. Matter of installing the app and connecting my iPhone to the on board USB.  The phone has to remain connected for the satnav to operate on Appleplay.  To be honest, our granddaughter did it for me - she happens to be a wizard with iPhones and computer technology.
