You remind me of the folk that blame the police for shooting someone who’s pointing a gun at them.  Unsubscribing threat is like threatening to throw Brer Rabbit in the briar patch 😉

Nothing of the sort! I think he pointed a BB gun at you, then u shot him with a real gun, now he's a ghost.

And that’s exactly what I’m talking about.  Don’t point anything at an armed police officer.  The snowflakes unite.

I only drop in to the forum once every few weeks but if I'd been around I think my reply would have went something like - have you thought about another company car?

I kinda see why he thought he'd get an extra year's warranty but then again, that's because he never read the details. People never let facts get in the way of seeing what they want to see and believing what they want to believe.

Toyota has one of the most simple servicing regimes out there so if the dealer's info confused him...  I'd liked to have been a fly on the wall when that conversation took place.

I hope he never buys a VW group car and asks the same question. I'm still confused and I've been driving them for 25 years ! 🤣

I'd like to thank the person who started this thread. Most enjoyable.

But more than that, I'd like to thank those stalwart individuals who continued to try to help him/her, in spite of everything. Well done to you!

Yes, of course you do, unless you're in Conwy. You're not in Conwy, are you? Everyone gets free everything, for life, unless they're in Conwy.

Yes I am in Conwy and that in itself is confusing,  I drove on the a55 today there's a 50 limit thru Colwyn Bay, but there are also street lights, so do I do 20mph or 50mph to be safe I dropped down to 20mph causing a traffic jam back to Chester, I am being overtaken by cyclists who are not giving me 1.5 mtrs clearance,  Wales is mad,🐏👩‍👧‍👦

Oh my goodness - apologies for taking the thread further off topic, but last week I drove in central London for the first time in ages. It's 20mph everywhere there, too. Not easy to achieve!

It's an asset that cost you (presumably) a five figure sum, and has a 3 year warranty. Risking the validity of the latter and reducing the resale value down the line (because it won't have a full service history) to save a couple of hundred pounds is probably not the best plan.

In 2019 we bought the wifes uncle a pre reg Suzuki Celerio. 12 miles on the clock, £6995 OTR inc metallic (saved about £1500).

He has never done many miles but living in a village with sod all bus services and only one taxi a car is pretty much essential. He also used to take the MIL out shopping etc saving us a 80 mile round trip many times over the years. Covid reduced his miles further and when the MIL died that was the end of Chiropody, Doctors etc with her.

He has recently been told he has to stop driving so the car had to go. Its 5 years old in December and has 3,800 miles on the clock. Its been serviced annually at the dealer we bought it from who actually carried out special services that protect the warranty but not overdo it because of the low miles. Service 1 was included in the purchase, service 2, 3 and 4 including 2 MOT's cost him about £500 in total including collection and delivery back home (the 4 journeys on the day for the garage were about 60 miles in total (all on pretty rubbish rural and urban roads most 30 mph limits) - but they did charge a tenner for their time).

For convenience after trying WBAC (decent offer but they would also knock that down when they saw it with MOT and service due plus a few minor scuffs - they also charge an admin fee and extra for quick money transfer) I offered it to the 2nd hand car lot down the road from us. Seen a couple of Celerios on the forecourt in the past year and it was in the price bracket they sell. Strait out he told me they prefer higher mileage cars at lower prices, at least he was honest.

So took it back to where we bought it. A bit of negotiating (he was more than happy with the miles, history and condition) and we got £5100. In truth since the Celerio was only sold for about 4 years and was about as popular as pox in a brothel I expected nearer £3000.

A loss of only £1899 in 4 1/2 years is pretty staggering but what would it have been with no service history I wonder.

Yes, I know prices are stupid at present.

Sounds like the guy on the Kia forum (we had a Ceed at the time) who bought a 7 year old car (privately) with the 7 year warranty sticker on the rear window and assumed it meant his 7 year old car got a 7 year warranty.

He was most upset and for some strange reason blamed Kia rather than accepting he was an idiot.

Does my iQ2 have one? Didn't think it did. I have to use that analogue toe-ridden thing on the end of my right leg.

Not that the 7 year warranty would have been much use anyway if my pal's experience is anything to go by.

He bought a new Sportage in 2009, and in that horrendous winter of 2010-2011 the blower motor packed up, maybe it was made of cheese.

With the temperature at the time freezing the inside aswell as the outside of the windscreen, it made the car unusable.

The dealer could not source one until spring was well on the way,no resolution at the time it was needed at all.

So all very well in theory having a long warranty, but in that case, useless.

In truth that is an issue you read about with many (if not most) makes (especially post pandemic).

In the 5 years we had our Kia the only issue we had was a holed A/C condenser (at 4 years old). I did not expect it to be covered by the warranty because it was external damage but the dealer said it was so I did not argue. Unfortunately they were on back order but only took 2 weeks to arrive.

Over the years been on many forums and the common thread seems to be that your current car is total tat yet the previous car was great. Go onto that forum and the previous car seems to be total tat.

The grass is always greener on the other side (until you get there it seems).

If the Yaris is as reliable as any car we have bought in the last 35 years I will be delighted. The Mini Cooper S we had was without doubt the worst, never let us down but 3 dealers were totally incapable of sorting minor issues without having several goes, sold it back to them after 3 years. Difficult to say which was the best but the wifes current Fabia must be in with a shot at top slot. Owned almost 6 years and other than the annual service its never been to a garage and its never needed any work except scheduled maintenance.

Prior to becoming a Toyota owner last year, my wife and I have owned a combination of Audi, VW and Skoda models over a 25 year period.  All of the models served us well and the Skodas were just as reliable as the more so called quality marques.

I am confused which is why I posted for help. If I'm just going to be made to feel belittled then I'm now wondering if I should remove my account. The website didn't help, the dealer didn't help and I thought who better to ask than owners for unbiased answers.

Toyota specifically say the words, "additional warranty with every service". To me that means added on to what I already have. I want to know what I'm getting for my money and I hoped you guys who are experienced owners would give me answers. Mojo didn't really answer my questions. They just listed, what I thought was 3 types of service. 2 different types of inter and a full. While I totally appreciate and am thankful for the reply, it confused me even more because it didn't directly answer any of my questions. I now realise they meant the first service should be an inter, then full then inter.

And this still doesn't clarify. Are you saying I could get 3 services that add nothing and by year 4 I have to get serviced again to get an extra 1 year? I'd expect that if I have 3 services before the 3 year warranty is up, I would have accumulated a further 3 years additional warranty.

Dealer: "Every new Toyota comes with a 3 year manufacturer warranty followed by a 12 months / 10,000 miles additional warranty, with every qualifying service.*"

It doesn't say, "Every new Toyota comes with a 3 year manufacturer warranty followed by a 12 months / 10,000 miles additional warranty, with every SUBSEQUENT qualifying service.*"

And I'm still none the wiser as to what type of service qualifies because there are no *terms and conditions on the website. It could be that only full services qualify. I don't know which was the point of asking!

I feel I've made a mistake coming here to ask. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well if your still about, I would have thought you would have known this but a full service(major) is everything, all filters, oil etc and an interim will change the oil and filter but not much else, they won't change the air or cabin filters, so a interim is just the basics.
