Hello everyone,

after some digging around these forums I found this post: https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/170351-b9005-backup-camera-working/#comment-1400277

Would it be possible to use another video input instead of a rear view camera using the method described there? For simplicity's sake, let's say I want to display my laptop screen on the head unit. The connection would be HDMI -> HDMI to AV converter -> yellow video cable going to the 24-pin connector (I would cut the end off of the video cable and connect the cables into the 24-pin connector with spade connectors, just like in the post I linked above). Or if I wanted to avoid cutting cables I could probably buy one of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005118124283.html?src=google&aff_fcid=8c83bd288ad74a09b6b918f722e6ed0e-1696002347577-09877-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=8c83bd288ad74a09b6b918f722e6ed0e-1696002347577-09877-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=9bb01de7c1c743e9aed32661ccc4df5b&afSmartRedirect=y&_fs_=true

If I understand correctly, the way rear cameras work, is whenever you put the car in reverse gear the camera gets power from the taillights. Consequently, a video signal is sent to the head unit, which automatically displays the received video on top of whatever is currently being displayed (radio, navigation, etc). Therefore, this concept should also work. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
